Position Overview The Server provides attentive, table-side food and beverage service in the main dining room, delivering a consistent, polished guest experience through professionalism, menu knowledge, and service excellence. Responsibilities The primary focus of this role is to lead guest dining experiences with confidence, consistency, and a strong understanding of menu offerings and hospitality standards. Greet and seat guests courteously, offering personalized attention whenever possible Check in with guests throughout the meal to ensure satisfaction and promptly address additional requests or special needs Monitor tables continuously to anticipate needs without interrupting the guest experience. Present menus and take accurate food and beverage orders, providing menu guidance and thoughtful recommendations Maintain thorough knowledge of the food menu, daily specials, and seasonal offerings. Understand Basic spirits, wine, and beer knowledge and how beverages pair with meals. Serve food and beverages in accordance with established service standards and timing expectations Execute tableside service when required (wine presentation, dessert service, finishing touches). Follow proper wine service standards, including opening, pouring, and decanting when necessary. Communicate guest orders clearly and efficiently to kitchen and bar teams using POS or handheld systems Collaborate closely with bussers, food runners, and hosts to maintain smooth and efficient service flow Process guest payments accurately, including cash and card transactions, and present bills professionally Complete opening, closing, and side work duties in alignment with service standards The Environment At Exmoor, we take pride in fostering a safe, close-knit, family-orientated work environment. The History Founded in 1896 as Illinois' third golf club, Exmoor is a private, full-service country club, located in Highland Park, Illinois, 28 miles north of Chicago. Qualifications 2-3 years of experience in a serving role Previous experience in a mid-scale, full-service restaurant environment Strong knowledge of table-side service fundamentals and guest engagement Familiarity with POS systems Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Team-oriented mindset with a professional, guest-focused approach Note This job description in no way states or implies that these are the only duties to be performed by the employee(s) incumbent in this position.
