Actively promote appropriate appetizers, cocktails, mocktails, wine, entrées, upgrades, and desserts. Use suggestive selling techniques to enhance the guest experience rather than simply taking orders. Communicate unavailable or out-of-stock items before the guest places an order whenever possible. Offer appropriate alternatives when an item is unavailable. Stay current on menu changes, daily specials, features, and promotions. 3. Guest Experience & Hospitality Provide attentive, professional, and personalized service throughout the entire meal. Monitor tables continuously and anticipate guest needs. Check back with guests at appropriate points during the meal. Ensure food and beverages are delivered accurately and in a timely manner. Maintain awareness of table progress and communicate effectively with the kitchen, bar, hosts, and management. Address guest concerns promptly and professionally. Remain calm, respectful, and solution-focused when handling difficult situations. Immediately communicate significant guest complaints or service issues to management. Offer guests the option to box remaining food and ensure takeout items are properly packaged and labeled. Encourage satisfied guests to share their experience and leave an online review when appropriate. 4. Safe Food, Beverage & Alcohol Service Follow all applicable food safety, sanitation, and restaurant procedures. Ensure food and beverages are handled and served safely. Maintain strong knowledge of the beverage menu, including alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages. Follow all restaurant procedures and applicable laws regarding alcohol service. Properly check identification when required before serving alcohol. Never knowingly serve alcohol to an underage guest or an intoxicated guest. Monitor guests for signs of intoxication and notify management when a guest may need to be cut off. Follow management direction regarding alcohol service and guest safety. Immediately report any alcohol-related concern to a manager. 5. Section Maintenance & Teamwork Maintain a clean, organized, and properly stocked section throughout the shift. Continuously clear, clean, and reset tables as needed. Pre-bus tables whenever appropriate without interrupting the guest experience. Maintain clean and organized service stations. Assist fellow team members when needed and when your section permits. Communicate effectively with other servers, hosts, bartenders, kitchen staff, bussers, and managers. Contribute to a positive and professional team environment. Never leave assigned responsibilities incomplete for the next shift or another team member. 6. Opening & Closing Responsibilities Complete all assigned opening duties before beginning service. Arrive prepared and ready to work at the scheduled start time. Come prepared with an appropriate staff bank for the shift to ensure smooth payment processing. Properly set up and stock the assigned section and service areas. Complete all assigned closing duties before leaving. Ensure tables, stations, equipment, and service areas are properly cleaned, stocked, and organized. Follow all closing checklists and shift procedures. Obtain manager approval when required before clocking out or leaving the property. Professional Standards All Servers are expected to: Arrive on time, prepared, and in proper uniform. Maintain a professional appearance and positive attitude. Demonstrate urgency without sacrificing hospitality. Take ownership of their section and responsibilities. Communicate clearly and respectfully. Demonstrate strong menu and beverage knowledge. Follow all safety, sanitation, alcohol-service, and restaurant policies. Support the team and contribute to the overall guest experience. Treat every guest and team member with professionalism and respect. Consistently look for opportunities to improve the guest experience. The goal is not simply to take orders and deliver food. The Server is responsible for guiding the guest through the entire dining experience and creating an experience that makes them want to return.
