Job Description

The historic Lafayette Club in Minnetonka Beach, MN is looking to hire for a Banquet Server position. Consideration will be given to applicants that possess prior banquet or wait service experience, and a steady work history. Experience in a country club or hotel/resort setting is beneficial but not required. Compensation includes an hourly rate and gratuities. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Attend pre-function meetings as required. Perform related banquet set-up tasks. Provide immediate attention to all members and guests upon entering the event room Greet and welcome members and guests by using their names when available and address by Mr., Mrs., and Ms. where appropriate. Display event food knowledge to include menu, portion sizes, preparation, accompaniments, and plate presentation. Pour and refill wine, coffee, water, and other beverages served with and after the meal. Check back to your section to ensure complete member/guest satisfaction. Promptly clear soiled dishes from tables, clearing from the right of each person. Keep wait station and assigned work area in kitchen and banquet area clean. Advise supervisor of any member or guest complaints as soon as they occur. Assists in closing functions such as removing linen, bussing glasses, dishes, silverware, etc., and re-setting the room for next function. Consistently follows all food safety-related requirements. Qualifications High School Diploma or GED is required. The ability to read, write and execute basic math skills. Prior banquet or wait service experience is preferred. Skills & Competencies Knowledge of all order on arrival menu items, preparation methods, ingredients, garnishes, and wine list. Ability to execute all service types (i.e., Russian, French, American, buffet, etc.). Assures that all state and local laws and club policies and procedures for the service of alcoholic beverages are consistently followed. Knowledge of and ability to perform required role during emergency situations. Licenses and Special Requirement s Food safety certification. Of legal age to serve alcoholic beverages. Alcohol beverage certification. Physical & Work Environment Requirements Required to stand for long periods and walk, climb stairs, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, bend, stretch and twist or reach. Push, pull or lift to 50 pounds. Continuous repetitive motions. Work in hot, humid, and noisy environment.
