Your job is to provide friendly, attentive, and timely service to create an exceptional breakfast and lunch experience for all our Guests.
Responsibilities include:
Take orders from customers for food and beverages (in-restaurant & to-go orders) Help deliver all beverages in a timely fashion Running food as needed to the bar, teammate's tables, and to-go orders Collect customer payments and provide change in an accurate, timely, and courteous manner Provide Egg-ceptional service to all guests & customers that walk through our doors Upsell menu items and promote daily specials to enhance guest experience and increase sales. Monitor guest satisfaction throughout their meal, addressing any concerns promptly. Collaborate with kitchen staff to ensure efficient food preparation and timely service. Handle cash transactions accurately, including processing payments through POS systems. Maintain cleanliness and sanitation standards in the dining area, adhering to food safety regulations. Pre-bussing, bussing, and resetting tables for new guests as needed. - Turning Point was originally a lunch and dinner restaurant named The Turning Point Coffee and Tea Salon prior to Kirk and Pam purchasing it and changing it over to the breakfast and lunch concept that it is today. They chose to keep the name Turning Point because the purchase of that restaurant was a huge turning point in their lives! During your training, and throughout your employment, we have a few Expectations of you:
- Be enthusiastic, polite, engaging, and friendly to all humans in association with the restaurant, guests and vendors included
- Treat every guest and every table as if they are yours
- Your primary function as a server is to give guests an extraordinary experience and exceptional service, you are not an order taker !
- When possible, accommodate guests' requests. Do not say the word "NO", rather, offer an alternative accommodation
- Always find opportunities to go above and beyond: open doors for guests, offer to take pictures for parties, etc.
- We seat guests until 3:10pm, despite our 3pm "closing" time
- If it appears the guest is not satisfied with any aspect of their experience, resolve their issue. If you do not know how to resolve their issue get your manager to resolve it
- Be kind, ESPECIALLY to those in need of kindness and compassion
- Make eye contact with all people and acknowledge them throughout the shift. Keep your head up, acknowledge all guests, co-workers, etc.
- Say "Hello, Thank You, Goodbye & Have a great day!" to everyone coming and going
- Hang out in the dining room, not the kitchen so you are always accessible to our guests
- Pay extra attention to guests at the host stand, always acknowledge them even if it is while you are on your way to dropping food off to a table
- Help guests waiting at the door, help seat guests, help guests with their take-out orders, put guests on the waitlist
- Be a good TP Buddy, teamwork makes the dream work and is essential in this industry
- Keep a positive attitude, exhibit positive body language, be thoughtful and respectful
- Don't allow one bad experience or incident to ruin your perception of all Guests One Team, One Goal Policy - At Turning Point, we do not tolerate "FOH vs.
BOH (front-of-house vs. back-of-house)" mentality seen in many restaurants - we emphasize Teamwork & Unity. Every role is essential, and we are all part of the same team. Our shared goal must be to ensure every guest receives prompt service and a satisfying dining experience. In moments of pressure, like handling remakes, delays or heavy rushes, it's critical that all staff focus on solutions, acting, and most importantly, prioritizing the guest. Errors should never lead to conflict or finger-pointing. Instead, communicate clearly, act quickly, and involve the manager when needed.
