Job Description

The Wooden Match is a small business in Bethlehem, PA. We are professional, agile and our goal is to provide a place where craft beer flows freely, the food is delicious and plentiful, the atmosphere is inviting, the people are friendly, the prices are fair, and shockingly….you can enjoy a cigar wherever and whenever you please. Call The Wooden Match a gastropub, call it a cigar bar, call it a utopia. The Wooden Match wears many hats. But, despite its many parts, the whole serves as a place for you to unwind, socialize, and eat and drink your fill. The doors are open and you're welcome as often as you please..

Duties Welcome guests warmly as a Hostess or Host, managing reservations through SimpleHost and seating arrangements efficiently to optimize flow. Take and serve orders accurately using Kwick POS, ensuring timely delivery of food and beverages. Assist servers by bussing tables promptly and maintaining cleanliness in dining areas to uphold sanitation standards. Deliver food swiftly and professionally as a Food Runner, ensuring dishes arrive at the correct tables with proper presentation. Provide exceptional customer service by addressing guest inquiries, upselling menu items to enhance their experience, and fostering positive guest relations. Handle cash transactions accurately through cash handling procedures and cashiering responsibilities while maintaining food safety and sanitation protocols. Support kitchen staff with basic food preparation or food handling tasks when needed to ensure smooth operations during busy hours. Skills Proven experience in food service roles such as server, host/hostess, busser, or food runner within a restaurant or hospitality setting. Strong knowledge of Kwick POS systems. Excellent customer service skills with the ability to engage guests warmly and professionally. Effective time management skills to prioritize tasks during high-volume periods while maintaining attention to detail. Knowledge of food safety standards, sanitation practices, and proper food handling procedures. Ability to upsell menu items confidently to increase sales and enhance guest satisfaction through suggestive selling techniques. Basic math skills for cash handling and cashiering; strong guest relations skills to foster positive experiences from arrival to departure.
