JOB SUMMARY
Lion's Share is seeking a skilled and service-driven Captain to lead our dining room team and elevate the guest experience. This role is essential in ensuring seamless service, anticipating guest needs, and maintaining the highest standards of hospitality. The Captain will act as a bridge between the front- and back-of-house teams, providing guidance and support while delivering an exceptional and memorable dining experience.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
Lead the dining room team, setting the standard for service excellence and hospitality. Provide attentive and intuitive service, anticipating guest needs and personalizing each experience. Guide guests through the menu, offering thoughtful recommendations and expert beverage pairings. Oversee the timing and execution of service, ensuring seamless coordination between the kitchen and front-of-house teams. Train and mentor servers and support staff to maintain consistency and elevate service standards. Communicate effectively with the kitchen and bar teams to ensure accuracy and efficiency in order execution. Handle guest inquiries, special requests, and service-related concerns with professionalism and poise. Maintain a deep knowledge of Lion's Share's food, wine, and beverage offerings, adapting to seasonal menu changes. Assist with table maintenance, food running, and overall dining room organization as needed. Contribute to pre-shift meetings, service briefings, and ongoing training initiatives.

HEALTH & SAFETY
Ensure compliance with all health and safety standards, including food handling, sanitation, and workplace hygiene, in line with local Department of Health guidelines. Maintain TABC card.
EXPERIENCE
  • Minimum 2-3 years of experience in a fine dining or high-end restaurant environment.
  • Previous experience in a Captain or Lead Server role preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of food, wine, and beverage pairings.
  • Excellent time management, communication, and multitasking abilities.
  • Experience in Michelin-starred or award-winning restaurants is a plus.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Requires standing and walking for the entire shift. Involves frequent reaching, bending, and lifting. Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds regularly during the shift. Work hours may include nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
