Overview We are seeking a friendly and attentive Host / Server Assistant to join our team at The Appalachian! In this role, you will be the welcoming face of our restaurant, ensuring guests have a positive and memorable experience from the moment they arrive. Your responsibilities will include managing reservations, assisting with table management, and supporting the serving staff to uphold our commitment to an elevated dining experience. This position offers an excellent opportunity for individuals with prior host/hostess or food service experience to develop their skills in a professional environment. Duties Greet guests warmly upon arrival and manage seating arrangements to optimize the flow of service Utilize POS systems for reservation management and guest check-in processes Maintain accurate restaurant reservation and table management using designated systems Assist servers by delivering food and beverages, clearing tables, and ensuring guest needs are met promptly Support the front-of-house team in providing exceptional customer service that aligns with our high standards Handle basic math calculations for billing and order accuracy Ensure cleanliness and organization of host stand and dining areas Collaborate with team members to create a seamless dining experience for all guests Requirements Previous experience as a host/hostess or in food service is preferred Familiarity with POS systems and restaurant reservation management software Knowledge of restaurant table management systems is advantageous Strong customer service skills with a friendly and professional demeanor Ability to perform basic math accurately for billing purposes Excellent communication skills and a team-oriented attitude Ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment Prior experience in an upscale or elevated dining setting is a plus
