JOB SUMMARY
The Bar Server is responsible for providing exceptional beverage service to guests in a bar or lounge environment. This role ensures a welcoming atmosphere, accurate order-taking, and prompt delivery of drinks and light food items. The ideal candidate is friendly, professional, detail-oriented, and thrives in a fast-paced, social setting. This role is critical to maintaining the luxury standard and reputation of The Houstonian Hotel, Club & Spa while upholding the highest levels of discretion and professionalism.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Greet guests warmly and make personalized drink recommendations Take beverage and light food orders accurately and efficiently Deliver drinks and snacks promptly, ensuring proper presentation and garnishes Check in with guests throughout their visit and anticipate their needs Ensure guest satisfaction and address any concerns or complaints professionally Stay knowledgeable about bar menu items, specialty cocktails, wines, and beer selections Upsell premium spirits and featured items when appropriate Maintain awareness of guest alcohol consumption and follow responsible service protocols Maintain cleanliness of bar tables, seating areas, and assigned sections Clear and reset tables quickly between guests Restock service stations and assist bartenders with glassware or supplies as needed Enter orders into the point-of-sale (POS) system and process payments accurately Handle cash, credit card, and room charges according to company policies Balance end-of-shift receipts when applicable Other duties as assigned. Qualifications
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
High school education, GED, or equivalent experience. Must have 2 years previous bar server experience in a high-volume restaurant and/or hotel. Must have ability to perform daily work at a high level of accuracy. Must have alcohol beverages and wine knowledge. Must be able to take direction well. Must pay attention to detail. Must feel comfortable memorizing orders and specials. Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills. Must have professional appearance and behavior. Must have interpersonal communication skills. Must have proficient technology skills on the POS system. Must be able to multitask without getting flustered. Must perform all the duties and responsibilities in a safe manner.

Scheduled days and hours vary based on departmental needs.

PHYSICAL JOB REQUIREMENTS
Must be able to meet the following minimum physical requirements for at least an eight-hour shift:
Physical Stamina:
Frequent standing, walking, climbing of ladders and stairs, kneeling, reaching overhead, lifting and carrying various objects weighing up to 30 lbs. Must be able to work safely and effectively in outdoor temperatures. Summer temperatures outside can get above 95 degrees Fahrenheit for 5 months of year. For 2 months of year, low temperatures can get below 20 degrees Fahrenheit. Hearing /
Speech:
Must be able to effectively engage in one-on-one communication with guests, members, and customers and use a 2-way radio to communicate clearly and accurately with co-workers.
Vision:
Must be able to accurately read instructions, reports, and log sheets. Must be able to work with computers and PDAs in varying light conditions.
Literacy:
Must be able to produce, read and understand reports, including security, incident and police reports. Must be able to analyze and process written information from a variety of sources and effectively communicate content of reports.
Chemicals/Agents:
Must be able to work safely with chemicals according to SDS sheets and all applicable laws, codes and regulatory requirements. Share job details to
