Job Description

Restaurant Server
NOLA BRUNCH & BEIGNETS - 1.0
San Antonio, TX Job Details From $5.25 an hour 16 hours ago Qualifications Customer communication Full Job Description NOLA is looking for an experienced, energetic, and hospitality-driven Server who can provide warm, knowledgeable service while thriving in a busy, fast-paced restaurant environment. Our Servers are more than order takers. They guide the guest experience from the moment they arrive at the table through the end of their visit. We are looking for someone who can connect with guests, confidently describe and sell our menu, anticipate needs, manage multiple priorities, and work with urgency without sacrificing hospitality or accuracy. At NOLA, we believe great service combines personality with professionalism. How you show up, communicate, accept coaching, solve problems, support your team, and take ownership of your responsibilities matters.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
As a NOLA Server, you will: Welcome guests with genuine, professional hospitality Guide guests through our food, beverage, and featured offerings Maintain strong knowledge of menu ingredients, preparation, modifications, and allergens Make thoughtful recommendations based on guest preferences Confidently suggest appetizers, beverages, entrées, add-ons, desserts, and other appropriate enhancements to the guest experience Accurately enter orders and communicate modifications or special requests Monitor your tables throughout the dining experience rather than waiting for guests to ask for assistance Anticipate refills, clearing, additional items, and the next steps of service Check back appropriately and address concerns quickly Work with bartenders, hosts, bussers/porters, BOH, and MODs to maintain smooth service Pre-bus and maintain clean, organized tables throughout the guest experience Process guest payments accurately Complete opening, closing, and assigned side work Maintain clean and properly stocked service areas Follow all NOLA policies, procedures, food-safety standards, and steps of service Support the entire team when assistance is needed
THIS IS A FAST-PACED POSITION NOLA
can be busy, high-volume, and demanding. A strong Server must be able to manage multiple tables and priorities while remaining composed, accurate, and welcoming. We are looking for someone who can: Work with urgency without appearing rushed or overwhelmed Prioritize several guest needs at the same time Stay organized during high-volume service Maintain awareness of their entire section Communicate before a small issue becomes a larger problem Ask for assistance when appropriate Recover quickly from mistakes or unexpected situations Continue providing hospitality even when the shift becomes challenging Being busy does not lower the service standard. It makes communication, awareness, teamwork, and urgency even more important.
HOSPITALITY + SALES
Great serving is both service and sales. We want Servers who are comfortable talking about our menu and helping guests discover what NOLA has to offer. That means knowing the menu well enough to make genuine recommendations—not simply asking, "Are you ready to order?" Strong Servers listen to the guest, understand what they are looking for, make confident suggestions, and recognize opportunities to enhance their experience. The goal is never to pressure a guest. The goal is to provide knowledgeable hospitality that naturally drives sales.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
The strongest candidates will demonstrate: Hospitality You genuinely enjoy taking care of people and understand that your attitude, communication, attentiveness, and professionalism shape the guest experience. Reliability You arrive on time, prepared, in proper uniform, and ready to work. When you are scheduled, your team is relying on you. Urgency & Awareness You continuously monitor your section and recognize what needs attention. You do not wait for a guest or manager to tell you about something you should reasonably have noticed. Ownership You take responsibility for your tables, your orders, your mistakes, and your role in the guest experience. When something goes wrong, your first thought is how to help make it right. Initiative You look for what needs to happen next rather than requiring constant direction. Coachability You can receive constructive feedback professionally, ask appropriate questions, make adjustments, and demonstrate improvement. Problem-Solving You stay calm when something unexpected happens, gather the necessary information, consider an appropriate solution, and know when MOD involvement is required. Resilience One difficult table, mistake, correction, or stressful moment does not determine the rest of your shift. You regroup and continue providing professional service. Teamwork You understand that there is no great individual service without a strong restaurant team. You communicate, run food, help maintain the dining room, support coworkers, and contribute when the restaurant needs you.
WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE AT NOLA
Successful Servers do not simply take orders and deliver food. They pay attention. They notice when a guest needs something. They know their menu. They communicate. They sell through genuine recommendations. They maintain their section. They ask for help before becoming overwhelmed. They take responsibility when something goes wrong. And when their own tables are taken care of, they look for an opportunity to help the team. At NOLA, opportunity follows demonstrated responsibility. We value employees who show up consistently, perform with urgency, communicate professionally, accept coaching, take ownership, support their teammates, and continue developing their skills. We do not expect perfection. We do expect effort, professionalism, accountability, hospitality, and growth.
