Job Overview Il Porto Ristorante, a fine dining Italian restaurant in the heart of Old Town Alexandria, is seeking experienced and knowledgeable servers to join our team. We are looking for polished, hospitality-driven professionals who understand elevated service and can confidently guide guests through a fine dining experience. Our servers should be knowledgeable, personable, attentive, and comfortable working in a busy restaurant environment while maintaining a high standard of service. Responsibilities Provide attentive, professional, and personalized service throughout the guest experience Confidently present our menu, daily specials, wines, cocktails, and other beverage selections Demonstrate strong knowledge of ingredients, preparation methods, and appropriate food and wine pairings Accurately take and enter food and beverage orders while communicating clearly with the kitchen and service team Anticipate guest needs and maintain proper steps of service throughout the dining experience Maintain table presentation, cleanliness, and fine dining standards throughout service Process guest checks and payments accurately and efficiently Work closely with fellow servers, bartenders, bussers, hosts, management, and kitchen staff to provide seamless service Maintain professionalism and attention to detail during high-volume service Requirements Previous serving experience, preferably in fine dining or upscale restaurants Strong knowledge of food, wine, spirits, cocktails, and beverage service Ability to confidently explain dishes, ingredients, preparation methods, and pairings Understanding of proper fine dining steps of service and dining etiquette Excellent communication and guest service skills Professional appearance and demeanor Ability to multitask, manage time, and remain organized in a fast-paced environment Strong attention to detail and commitment to hospitality Familiarity with restaurant POS systems and basic math skills for accurately processing guest checks, payments, and cash transactions Knowledge of proper food handling, sanitation, and food safety standards Ability to work effectively as part of a team Flexible availability, including evenings, weekends, and holidays Become part of the Il Porto family and continue a tradition of hospitality proudly serving Old Town Alexandria since 1973.
