POSITION SUMMARY :
This position is responsible for overall leadership, direction, and strategic oversight of the Hotel at the Ojibwa Casino Resort, Ojibwa RV Park Baraga, and the Ojibwa campground, including management of the online reservation platform. The incumbent oversees all aspects of daily operations including front desk operations, housekeeping (room attendants), retail, and all campground operations, while driving revenue growth, operational efficiency, and exceptional guest experience. This role is accountable for supervising and developing staff, implementing service standards, optimizing occupancy and profitability, and aligning operations with broader organizational goals. As an exempt leadership position, this role requires flexibility to work varying shifts, including nights, weekends and holidays, to ensure continuous and effective operations.
QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS
: 1. High School Diploma or High School Certification or GED required. 2. Associates degree in Hotel/Hospitality Management or a related field is preferred. 3. A minimum of three (3) years hotel or hospitality experience, including at least one (1) year in a supervisory or leadership role is required.
This experience must include:
a. Responsible for developing, implementing and monitoring departmental budgets and financial performance. b. Oversight for the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of departmental standard operating procedures. c. Demonstrated ability to establish and execute short- and long-term strategic goals and departmental objectives. d. Direct supervision, leadership, and development of department staff, including performance management and staff training. e. Experience analyzing operational and financial data to drive revenue growth, cost control, and improved guest satisfaction. 4. Must possess a valid, unrestricted Driver's License, - Michigan preferred or if another state must obtain Michigan Driver's License within 90 days of hire, have a good driving record, and be able to operate fleet vehicles •Must sign the KBIC Driving Record Check Form. •5. Must be able to obtain and maintain a gaming license. 6. Must be available to work flexible schedules, including nights, weekends and holidays as required to support operational needs. 7. Must demonstrate advanced guest service skills and guest recovery capabilities, with the ability to effectively resolve complex issues, uphold high standards of professionalism and ensure a consistently positive guest experience. 8. Must possess strong interpersonal, communication, problem solving skills, with the ability to effectively manage complex and diverse situations while maintaining professional relationships with both guests and employees. Must possess knowledge of and experience with hotel property management systems (PMS) and Windows-based software applications. 9. The individual must be able to deal with the general public and fellow employees with tact, courtesy, respect, objectivity and maturity. 10. Must be able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with guests, staff and other departments. 11. Must adhere to strict confidentiality in all matters. 12. Must be willing and able to obtain additional education and training as needed. 13. Must have satisfactory work and attendance record.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
: Responsible for the overall financial performance and daily operations of the Hotel, campground, and related amenities, including budget development, revenue forecasting, and operational oversight of guest services, reservations, housekeeping, pool operations, retail, and transportation services. Provides full operational oversight of the Ojibwa Campground, including revenue collection, reservations, grounds maintenance, and overall guest experience. Leads recruitment, training, scheduling and supervision, and performance management of housekeeping, front desk, and campground staff to ensure efficient operations and high service standards. Drives revenue generation through promotion and sales of Hotel rooms, meeting spaces, pool amenities, and campground offerings, with a focus on increasing overall property revenue, including gaming and retail. Develops and implements revenue-generating packages and pricing strategies that integrate hotel, campground, pool, retail, and event offerings. Develops sales strategies and promotional initiatives for all hotel and resort offers, including rooms, amenities, and retail services. Develops, implements, and continuously improves departmental policies and standard operating procedures to enhance efficiency and service quality. Provides leadership coverage and operational oversight to support a 24/7 operation, ensuring consistent service delivery across all shifts. Monitors bookings, market trends, and utilizing data analysis, forecasting tools to maximize occupancy and revenue. Analyzes and interprets operational and market data to develop actionable strategies and recommendations to improve performance. Maintains current knowledge of hotel, travel and gaming industry trends, technologies, and best practices, applying this knowledge to improve operations, drive sales performance, and enhance the overall guest experience. Leads efforts to identify, develop, and secure new business opportunities that drive occupancy, revenue growth, and overall property performance. Collaborates with marketing to develop and implement promotional strategies and campaigns that drive occupancy, revenue, and guest engagement. Partners with Accounting on financial processes, reporting, and inventory controls to ensure accuracy and accountability. Applies advanced knowledge of market mix, yield management, guest database, and financial planning to drive revenue optimization, support strategic decision-making, and achieve business objectives. Ensures compliance with all applicable policies, procedures, gaming regulations, and Tribal laws. Provides leadership, training, and development to staff to support efficient operations and long-term workplace growth. Mentor's employees' and supports succession planning and career development initiatives. Oversees property management systems, online booking platforms, and reservation systems to ensure accuracy and optimize performance. Provides oversight of pool operations, including water quality management, chemical handling protocols, staff training, and compliance with all applicable health, safety, and regulatory standards to ensure a safe environment for guests and employees. Leads response to operational incidents, guest concerns, and emergency situations, ensuring appropriate action, documentation, and follow-up. Conducts routine inspections of facilities, including guest rooms, public areas, and grounds, to ensure cleanliness, safety, and quality standards. Monitors operational performance and staff productivity to ensure efficient operations and a high level of guest satisfaction. Performs all other job-related duties as assigned by their supervisor.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
1. Must be able to stand for long periods of time, and occasionally sit, bend/stoop, push/pull, carry and lift up to fifty (50) pounds. 2. Must be able to tolerate varying levels of noise, dust and/or smoke. 3.
