Job Title:
General Manager - Household Goods WarehousePosition Summary The General Manager is responsible for overseeing all warehouse operations related to the storage, handling, and distribution of household goods. This role provides leadership across operations, safety, customer service, financial performance, and staff management to ensure efficient, compliant, and profitable warehouse operations. Key ResponsibilitiesOperations Management Direct daily warehouse operations, including receiving, storage, inventory control, packing, loading, and dispatch of household goods Ensure proper handling, storage, and documentation of household goods to minimize damage and loss Develop and implement operational procedures to improve efficiency, accuracy, and workflow Coordinate transportation, delivery schedules, and vendor relationships as needed Leadership & Personnel Management Lead, train, and supervise warehouse supervisors, office staff, and warehouse employees Establish staffing plans, schedules, and performance expectations Conduct performance evaluations, coaching, and corrective actions Promote a positive, team-oriented work environment emphasizing accountability and professionalism Safety & Compliance Enforce all workplace safety regulations, company policies, and industry standards Ensure compliance with OSHA, DOT, and other applicable local, state, and federal regulations Investigate incidents, implement corrective actions, and maintain safety documentation Lead regular safety meetings and training initiatives Inventory & Quality Control Oversee inventory accuracy through audits, cycle counts, and warehouse management systems Implement quality control standards to protect household goods and customer property Resolve inventory discrepancies and claims related to loss or damage Financial & Administrative Oversight Develop and manage operational budgets, cost controls, and labor expenses Monitor warehouse KPIs such as productivity, damage ratios, on-time performance, and operating costs Review invoices, payroll, and operational reports for accuracy Collaborate with senior leadership on strategic planning and growth initiatives Customer Service & Client Relations Ensure high standards of customer service for residential and commercial clients Address escalated customer concerns, claims, or service issues professionally and promptly Maintain strong relationships with customers, carriers, and business partners QualificationsRequired Bachelor's degree in business, logistics, operations management, or related field (or equivalent experience) 5+ years of management experience in warehouse, logistics, or distribution operations Proven leadership experience managing teams in a fast-paced environment Strong knowledge of warehouse operations, inventory control, and safety standards Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills Preferred Experience in household goods storage, moving, or furniture logistics Familiarity with warehouse management systems (WMS) and shipping software Experience managing P&L or operational budgets OSHA or safety certification Physical & Work Environment Requirements Ability to work in a warehouse environment with varying temperatures Occasional lifting, walking, and standing for extended periods Ability to work flexible hours, including early mornings or evenings as required Key Competencies Leadership and team development Operational efficiency and process improvement Safety-first mindset Financial and business acumen Customer-focused decision-making
Pay:
$60,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
