SUMMARY:
The Housekeeper works collaboratively with all members of the team to provide a clean and safe environment to all patients, visitors, guests and employees. The housekeeper is to clean, sanitize patient rooms, clinical areas and common spaces.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
NOTE:

Administrative Functions:
Report all accidents/incidents to your supervisor no matter how minor they may be. (
Note:
Such occurrences must be reported on the shift in which they occur.) Daily cleaning of services with nursing services when performing routine assignments in resident living areas as directed. Agree not to disclose assigned user ID code and password for accessing resident/facility information and promptly report suspected or known violations of such disclosure to the Administrator. Agree not to disclose resident's protected health information and promptly report suspected or known violations of such disclosure to the Administrator.
Personnel Functions:
Attend departmental and staff meetings as directed or called. Perform specific tasks in accordance with daily work assignments. File complaints/grievances with your supervisor. Report known or suspected incidents of abuse to the Administrator.
Staff Development:
Participate and assist in department projects as directed. Attend and participate in in-service educational classes, on-the-job training programs, etc. as scheduled or as directed. Attend and participate in annual facility in-service training programs as scheduled (OSHA, TB, HlPAA, Abuse Prevention Safety, etc.).
Safety and Sanitation:
Follow established fire safety policies and procedures. Follow established safe precautions when performing tasks and when using equipment and supplies. Wear and/or use safety equipment and supplies (e.g. back brace. mechanical Lifts, etc.) when lining or moving heavy objects. Ensure that assigned work areas are maintained in a clean, safe and sanitary manner. Keep work/assignment areas free of hazardous objects, unnecessary equipment, supplies, etc. Follow proper techniques when mixing chemicals, disinfectants, and solutions used in the work area. Refer to safety data sheets (SDSs) when necessary. Follow established policies governing the use of labels and SDSs. Report all hazardous conditions or equipment to your supervisor. Make certain that established infection control and universal precautions practices are maintained when performing laundry procedures. Participate in an in-service training program prior to performing tasks that involve potential exposure to blood, body fluids, or hazardous chemicals. Use appropriate personal protective equipment and supplies when handling infectious materials. Follow established hand washing procedures. Dispose of refuse daily in accordance with our established sanitation procedures. Follow established policies governing the disposal of personal protective equipment and disposal of infectious waste. Other duties that may become necessary are to make certain that the laundry department is maintained in a clean, safe, and sanitary manner.
Equipment and Supply Functions:
Ensure that an adequate supply of laundry/linen supplies is maintained in laundry/linen closets to meet the daily needs of the residents. Keep supervisor informed of supply needs. Keep work areas free of hazardous conditions, i.e., spills excess laundry carts, baskets, supplies, equipment, etc. Report all hazardous conditions or equipment to your supervisor. Report all equipment malfunctions or breakdowns to your superiors as soon as practical. Assisi others in lifting heavy equipment. supplies. etc., as directed or requested using appropriate lifting techniques. Clean work/laundry carts, equipment, etc. as necessary/directed. Make certain that equipment is cleaned and properly stored at the end of the shift.
Laundry Services:
Perform day-to-day laundry functions as assigned. Perform specific tasks in accordance with daily work assignments. Perform assigned tasks in accordance with established laundry procedures. Collect and sort laundry, linen, garments, and place in appropriate containers or assigned areas. Sort soiled laundry, linen, garments. etc., and separate those items that require special stain removal/treatment. Sort and wash soiled laundry, linen, garments, etc. in accordance with established procedures. Press/iron garments as instructed. Fold, count, stack, hang and distribute clean laundry, linen, garments. etc., to correct residents daily and/or as instructed. During emergency conditions, make certain that clean laundry, linen, garments, etc. are distributed to designated areas as instructed. Clean floors, including sweeping, dusting, and mopping. (
Note:
Make certain that appropriate caution/safety signs are properly set up prior to performing such duties. Keep walls and ceilings clean by washing, wiping, dusting, spot cleaning, disinfecting, deodorizing, etc. Remove dirt dust, grease, film, etc., from equipment or floor surfaces using proper cleaning/disinfecting solutions. Discard trash into proper containers and reline trash receptacle with plastic liner. Check lint traps on dryers and document according to policy and regulatory requirement.
Budget and Planning Functions:
Report suspected or known incidence of fraud relative to false billings, cost reports, kickbacks, etc.
Resident Rights:
Maintain confidentiality of all pertinent resident care information including protected health information. Report known or suspected incidents of unauthorized access, use, or disclosure of such information. Knock before entering a resident's room. Report complaints of missing property to your supervisor. Report all allegations of resident abuse and/or misappropriation of resident property to the Supervisor immediately.
Miscellaneous:
Performs other related duties as directed by management.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
(includes education, skills, and experience): The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Must possess, as a minimum, an 8th grade education and be over the age of 18 years old. Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language. The ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action. Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel and the general public. Must follow written and oral instructions concerning the mixture of cleaning compounds, liquids, cleaning instructions, etc. Must have patience, tact, cheerful disposition, and enthusiasm, as well as be willing to handle residents based on whatever maturity level they are currently functioning. Must possess the ability to seek out new methods and principles and be willing to incorporate them into existing food practices. Must not pose a direct threat to the health or safety of other individuals in the workplace.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
(includes education, skills, and experience): High school diploma or its equivalent. Preferred At least one (1) year of experience as a housekeeper.
WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL EFFORT
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Will have some repetitive hand and arm motions and prolonged periods of sitting and/or standing.
