Job Description

Human Resource & Talent Acquisition Specialist The Human Resource & Talent Acquisition Specialist at Scheffel Boyle CPA Firm plays a pivotal role in shaping the firm's talent pipeline and employee experience. As a solo HR professional, this position leads all human resources functions with a primary focus on recruiting top-tier accounting interns and experienced professionals across seven (7) office locations. In addition to driving full-cycle recruitment, the HR Specialist supports key HR initiatives, including employee relations, onboarding, compliance, and strategic workforce planning, that strengthen the firm's culture and long-term growth. This role is ideal for a proactive, relationship‑driven HR professional looking to make a meaningful impact in a respected public accounting firm.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor's degree in human resources, Business, or related field preferred 1-3 years of HR experience, with strong emphasis on recruiting; experience recruiting in accounting or professional services is a plus. Experience working with multiple locations Ability to independently manage multiple HR functions and competing priorities. Strong verbal and written communication skills; comfortable with public speaking and campus engagement. Working knowledge of HR functions, including employee relations, recruitment, benefits, onboarding, and offboarding Basic understanding of leave management (FMLA, ADA, etc.) Must be proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel. Ability to work independently and cross-functionally with all levels of the firm
GENERAL DUTIES
Recruiting (80%) Develop and execute recruitment strategies for accounting interns, entry-level associates, experienced CPAs and other support roles.
Manage the full-cycle hiring process:
sourcing, screening, interviewing, coordinating hiring teams, and presenting offers. Build and maintain strong relationships with university partners, including participation in campus events, career fairs, classroom presentations, and student networking opportunities. Own the internship recruiting pipeline, including scheduling, candidate communication, interview coordination, and onboarding support. Maintain the onboarding process and paperwork for all roles to ensure compliance and positive candidate experience. Create job postings and work with marketing/leadership to enhance employer branding. Develop long-term talent pipelines to support the firm's growth across all offices. General HR Duties (20%) Serve as the primary HR point of contact for employees and managers, addressing policy questions and basic employee relations concerns. Support HR strategy initiatives including workforce planning, retention strategies, career development programs, and culture-building efforts. Maintain HR compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. Coordinate new hire onboarding, orientation, and offboarding procedures. Update HR policies, employee handbooks, and standard operating procedures as needed.
Pay:
$60,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
