Gladwin, MI Position Summary:
The City of Gladwin is seeking an experienced Human Resources (HR) Coordinator to join our team. The HR Coordinator will be responsible for handling new hire documentation, personnel records, benefits administration, payroll, worker's compensation claims, unemployment insurance, and quarterly taxes (941) for all City employees.
City of Gladwin departments include:
Administration, Department of Public Works (DPW), Parks, and Police. The role requires a thorough understanding of healthcare, retirement, and hiring procedures. The position would also provide support to other administrative personnel and assist residents that enter City Hall. Key Responsibilities (including but not limited to): Creating job postings Advertising employment opportunities Interviewing candidates New hire documentation and BS&A software input Healthcare, vision, dental, and life insurance enrollment and payment Retirement (MERS or Mission Square) enrollment and contributions Timesheet (hours) verification Payroll adjustments Payroll (creating checks and direct deposit file) Remittance payments Personnel documentation Prepare quarterly tax reports (form 941) Prepare quarterly unemployment insurance reports (form 1028)
Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED required, associate's or bachelor's degree in human resources, social work, business administration or related field preferred Human Resources, payroll, and/or benefits administration experience preferred Experience with BS&A software preferred Ability to pass pre-employment background check and drug test
Preferred Skills:
Ability to work equally well both autonomously and in a team environment Detail oriented Ability to successfully manage multiple projects simultaneously Meet tight deadlines Excellent time management skills, efficient Personable self-starter Ability to keep sensitive information confidential Always represent the City with respect and professionalism
Compensation and Benefits:
