Human Resources Generalist I Reports to:
Manager/Director, Human Resources Summary:
The role of the HR generalist will be to assist the human resources department with all administrative tasks and functions.

The Human Resource Generalist I is responsible for a broad range of HR functions, offering expertise in areas such as recruitment, employee relations, onboarding, compliance, and HR strategy. This mid-level role is designed for professionals with a strong foundation in HR practices who are looking to expand their influence and impact across the organization. The HR Generalist I will collaborate with various departments to ensure alignment with business goals and enhance employee engagement and productivity.
Major Duties :
  • Responsible for tracking all open positions within the company and corresponding job descriptions. Ensuring when a position is vacated, the proper steps are taken for approval of backfill, with job posting tickets.
  • Working with department leaders in screening job candidates and conducting reference checks when required.
  • Drafting offer letters for selected candidates, sending them out and tracking the response
  • Initiating documentation needed to conduct the background and pre-employment drug screening, scheduling and tracking each screening.
  • When all pre-employment requirements are met, working with the department leaders and candidate to schedule orientation
  • Responsible for onboarding / orientation of all employees including driving and non-driving staff, ensuring all presentations stay up to date and accurate as policies and process change, communicating company policies and ensuring all required forms / documents are obtained
  • Responsible for the updating of information into the HRIS system for all non-driving employees, including EEO information for both drivers and non-drivers, hires, terminations and rehire information
  • Responsible for ensuring form I-9 is properly completed by all employees including drivers, tracking expiration dates of documents and ensuring renewal documents are received prior to expiration of current documents
  • Scanning of all documents to the employees Personnel (P) file for both drivers and non-drivers, in a timely manner, ensuring scans are readable.
  • Responsible for all non-driver pre-employment and random drug screens, obtaining randomized list, scheduling test on days when the clinic is in house, working to schedule with outside clinics when necessary, tracking results, communicating positive results to the VP.
  • Responds to all unemployment claims, tracking claim, providing information to the requesting department, attending hearings when needed, with a goal of denial on all claims.
  • Collecting required time tracking documents for hourly paid drivers, processing and submitting them to the payroll department on a weekly basis.
  • Conducting audits of time documents submitted each week for hourly drivers against their ELD logging records to ensure accuracy of time.
  • Responsible for identifying hiring candidates that will qualify for the State Workforce Program and connecting the candidates with the program, in order to receive credit on compensation from the program.
  • Responsible for sending and tracking exit interview surveys to all separated non-driving staff, utilizing survey monkey Creates and sends weekly exit interviews to newly separated drivers.
Tag's the survey in Survey Monkey with the appropriate reason codes. Downloads survey information monthly to send to upper management in an effort to reduce driver turnover. Processing driver terminations on a weekly basis, with detailed accuracy, sending out weekly term report to recipients and separation letters to drivers who were MIA or no contact. Responsible for all travel booking for entire non-driving company personnel, booking airfare, hotels and rental cars as needed and or requested. Utilizing company designated software Egencia, ensuring the most cost-effective travel arrangements are made. Ensures all vendor invoices are audited and submitted for payment prior to due date. Conduct and handle all non-driver previous employment verifications, working with the payroll department for the financial data to be completed when needed. Maintains the integrity and confidentiality of human resource files and records. Acts as the front person for Paschall Truck Lines, Inc in annual job fairs and our community programs when requested. Support all internal and external HR related inquiries or requests.
  • Performs customer service functions by answering employee requests and questions.
Assists with any other duties as assigned by HR Department or Management Team.
Job Requirements/Work Area Conditions:
Educational/Experience:
  • High School graduate with two plus year experience
Physical:
  • Continuous sitting, repetitive keyboard movements, telephone communications in a fast-paced environment.
Special Skills:
  • Keyboarding, computer operation and both verbal and written communication skills.
Attention to detail and maintaining confidentiality is a must.
Environmental:
Office environment.
