Position:
Human Resources Specialist The Human Resource Specialist will serve as a front facing role for the Office of Human Resources. The specialist is highly organized, detail oriented with the ability to multitask within a busy work environment. The specialist works within a team environment and can work independently. Organizational Scope:
Reporting to the Director of Human Resources, the Human Resources Specialist performs functions related to benefits, enrollment, hiring and onboarding, off-boarding through retirement or resignation, and human resources administration. The specialist assists employees with benefit policies, programs, procedures, and enrollment, executes other human resources tasks, and assists the Director of Human Resources in all phases of human resources, compensation and employee relations as needed. Position Responsibilities:
Greets and assists NRSD constituents on the phone and in person visiting the Office of Human Resources; Fields questions and inquiries from employees, retirees and former employees; Employee onboarding, including scanning and records maintenance; Advises people regarding eligibility and coverage of health, dental, life, and long-term disability insurance, pension and retirement programs, Medicare, 403(b) accounts, and flexible spending accounts; Responsible for billing, auditing and reconciling benefit enrollment/terminations, deduction payments for employees and retirees; deposits and other related duties. Within annual staffing cycles, plans, posts vacancies, and processes hiring and retirements; Responsible for CORI, fingerprinting, and suitability determination duties; Promotes employee recruitment activities, including job fairs and substitute recruitment/orientation; Completes necessary unemployment, COBRA and workers compensation reporting; Assists with coordination of annual human resources reporting (ACA, EEOC, Census Reporting, etc.) Initiates internal workflows when employees are hired, change assignments or leave a position; and Assists the Human Resources director and with payroll processing as needed. The omission of specific duties here does not exclude them from the position's responsibilities if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment to the position.
Job Qualifications:
A Bachelor's degree is preferred. Experience in benefits administration, or experience working in a human resources or similar department; Competence using technology, especially knowledge of Google Suite and MS Office applications is critical; Experience with applicant tracking system and online record management systems (Talent Ed, applications such as Infinite Visions); Ability to create and manipulate spreadsheets; Ability to maintain confidentiality and discretion with sensitive information; Integrity and strong organizational and interpersonal skills with a positive customer service orientation and the ability to relate well with staff, administration, employee association representatives, job applicants and the community; and Excellent communication skills and demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. Interest in promoting diversity, equity and inclusion best practices; Must be able to assist in the protection of students and school property, and to lead or assist in fire and other emergencies or emergency drills as required by law or school committee policy. A strong desire to learn or advance in human resources administration and a commitment to the goals and vision of the Nashoba Regional School District may be substituted for some of the above qualifications at the discretion of the Director of Human Resources and Superintendent of Schools.
Physical Demands:
Work is performed in a typical office environment requiring minimal to light physical effort. This may include everyday discomforts and distractions typical of office settings, such as proximity to colleagues, temperature variations, frequent interruptions and moderate noise. This position requires the ability to operate a computer keyboard and standard office equipment at efficient speed and for lengthy periods of time.
Terms of Employment, Evaluation of Performance, and Salary:
The Human Resources Specialist is a year-round, full-time, FLSA exempt position. Terms of employment, including salary, are negotiated individually with the Superintendent of Schools. Performance will be evaluated in accordance with the provisions of the School Committee's policy on Evaluation of Professional Personnel. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications, experience and education.
