Hilton, Laredo, TX Position Summary:
The Chief Engineer is responsible for the overall maintenance and operation of the hotel's physical structure, mechanical, electrical, HVAC, and plumbing systems, as well as the supervision of the engineering team. This role ensures the property is maintained in accordance with Hilton brand standards, local/state/federal regulations, and company policies to provide a safe, functional, and welcoming environment for guests and team members.
Key Responsibilities:
: Lead the engineering team in delivering Hilton's CARE culture and CleanStay standards, ensuring a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for guests and team members. Oversee and execute Hilton's proprietary preventive maintenance programs, including all guest rooms, public areas, and back-of-house systems, to meet or exceed Hilton's brand requirements. Ensure compliance with DoubleTree by Hilton's Quality Assurance (QA) audits, including regular self-audits and preparation for brand inspections. Monitor and report on KPIs such as guest satisfaction scores (e.g., SALT/Medallia), maintenance response times, energy and utility usage, and completion rates for preventive maintenance tasks. Implement and track Hilton's energy management and sustainability initiatives, aiming to achieve or exceed brand benchmarks for energy, water, and waste reduction. Respond promptly to guest and team member maintenance requests, ensuring all work orders are completed in accordance with Hilton's service standards and tracked in the property's maintenance management system. Maintain accurate records and documentation as required by Hilton's brand standards, including maintenance logs, safety inspections, and compliance checklists. Support the hotel's operational goals by collaborating with other department heads to ensure seamless guest experiences and efficient property operations. Foster a culture of continuous improvement, team engagement, and professional development in line with Hilton's leadership expectations. Perform other duties as assigned by hotel management, always with a focus on upholding DoubleTree by Hilton's brand promise and operational excellence.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent required; technical/vocational training in engineering, building maintenance, or related field preferred. Minimum 3-5 years of engineering/maintenance experience in a full-service hotel or similar facility, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or management role. Strong knowledge of building systems, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical. Experience with Hilton brand standards and systems preferred. Working knowledge of local, state, and federal regulations related to building operations and safety. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical manuals, and schematics. Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills. Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed. Physical ability to perform job duties, including lifting, climbing, and working in confined spaces. Certification in HVAC, electrical, or other relevant trade preferred. Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred but not required.
Working Conditions:
This position requires frequent walking, standing, bending, and lifting. The Chief Engineer may be exposed to heat, cold, noise, and hazardous materials. Personal protective equipment must be worn as required. Shreem Capital is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
