Job Description
JOB TITLE
Part Time Benefits SpecialistREPORTS TO
Executive Director of Human ResourcesREQUIREMENTS
Associates Degree or equivalent 3-5 years experience in a high volume, office setting Knowledge and/or experience in FMLA/leaves, benefits and insurance administration required Must be proficient in the use of computer software such as Word, Excel, etc. Experience and/or knowledge in reconciling/balancing spreadsheets and bills Position requires excellent oral and written communication skills Communicate at all levels within the District Must be able to work well with others in a team environment Any combination of education and experience will be consideredWORK YEAR
12 month, Part Time (20 hours per week)RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
1. Manages Worker's Compensation claims and supports staff with process. 2. Maintains current IMRF, COBRA, and FMLA policy information. 3. Administer COBRA coverage for all staff (annual notices, eligible coverage, payment collection, etc.) 4. Processes all mandated filings and insurance plans (OSHA 300, 1095, FSA testing, etc). 5. Orders and maintains legal compliance posters for all district buildings. 6. Coordinates long term disability insurance claims (LTD, TRS, IMRF, etc) 7. Acts as a liaison between the insurance providers and employee as required, facilitates wellness programs/opportunities for staff (i.e. flu shots). 8. Assists with tracking and processing all FMLA, Family Medical, Maternity and Child Rearing leaves, including daily monitoring of time off, communicating with staff, and following up as needed. 9. Supports District staff with ordering/distributing gifts for bereavement, marriages, and newborns. 10. Oversees the development of the Staff Newsletter for content and distribution. 11. When required, assists in collecting data for special projects and reports. 12. Review and process certified staff continuing education course approval forms, tuition reimbursement, credit toward lane advancement and lane changes. 13. Supports other staff members within the department with other Human Resources/Benefits related tasks as needed. 14. Performs any other duties as may be necessary and assigned by the Executive Director of Human Services.PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Ability to actively perform work in classroom, office, and other business and community settings. Ability to move freely and perform duties in numerous locations throughout the day (typically involving frequent standing, walking, sitting, bending, and lifting). Exposure to noise and activity of a school setting. Exposure to weather conditions. Ability to travel outside the district for a variety of meetings and conferences.TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
Newly hired employees will be placed on the ESP Salary Scale based on prior work experience that can be verified, that is recent (within the last ten years without an extended break in employment), and in a position of similar responsibilities.
