Qualifications and Experience Extensive knowledge of state and local worker's compensation laws and rulings is necessary Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Outlook, and medical practice software Minimum of one year of general clerical work experience, preferably in a medical office or hospital medical records department Knowledge of HIPAA and Confidentiality rules and regulations. Must be able to operate office equipment including but not limited to printer, copier, and fax machine Effective verbal and written communication skills, interpersonal skills, organizational skills, time management skills, and accurate typing and data entry skills required Must be able to multi-task Professional and courteous phone demeanor Must be able to maintain confidentiality Must be able to attend work on a daily basis and in a timely fashion Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following Coordinates follow up services authorized for the Worker's Compensation patients via clinical orders Obtains appropriate authorization for the surgical patient who has Worker's Compensation Coordinate the exchange of patient notes to insurance companies, case managers and employers Report all work status updates to the adjuster, case manager and/or employer Receive and resolve Worker's Compensation phone calls in accordance with department policy and procedure Communicate pertinent information with the attending physician Review records in order to facilitate the physician narrative report and scheduling of depositions, as directed Act as liaison between clinical staff and PT staff to ensure timely services to patient Perform other duties as required and assigned by the Office Manager Maintain a pleasant, cooperative demeanor while performing all duties Other Follows all applicable department and practice policies and procedures Maintains patient confidentiality; complies with HIPAA privacy and confidentiality guidelines established by the practice Maintains detailed knowledge of practice management and other computer software as it relates to job function Attends all regular meetings Performs other duties as required and assigned by the Manager, including schedule changes and travel to office locations as assigned From the mountains to the coast, EmergeOrtho is North Carolina's premier provider, recognized for offering world-class, comprehensive, and compassionate care serving patients with 67 locations in 28 counties.
