Job Description
Company Overview Established in 1972, Lake County Council on Aging is dedicated to serving the needs of senior residents aged 60 and over. We provide a wide range of services, including case management, nutrition, light housekeeping, and volunteer opportunities, all aimed at helping seniors live independently and safely in their own homes. Our mission is to support seniors and their families through compassionate and comprehensive programs. Position Overview We are seeking a passionate Benefits Specialist to join our team and support government programs designed for seniors and disabled adults . In this vital role, you will assist eligible individuals in navigating complex benefit systems, ensuring they receive the resources they need to thrive. Your work will empower seniors and disabled adults to access essential services that promote independence, health, and well-being. The successful candidate will serve as the community resource for information on federal, state, and local programs and services available to individuals 60+ and young adults 18 + with disabilities from established public assistance programs. Effective performance necessitates the skill to determine through screening the appropriate public assistance programs; to assist individual with the application process; and to act as a liaison with administering agencies in the event there are issues in obtaining/retaining needed benefits. Prefer candidates with Associate Degree in Human Services, and 3 years of experience providing guidance to Seniors and/or disabled adults on potential government public assistance programs that may fit their specific needs.
Critical:
Must possess a depth of knowledge on Medicare programs, including Parts A, B, C (Medicare Advantage), and D, with the ability to interpret coverage rules, eligibility criteria, and reimbursement guidelines. In addition, need to have the necessary skills to communicate this knowledge effectively to Lake County Seniors either on an one-on-one basis or in group session, to optimize our Seniors' access to the appropriate covered services.Job Type:
