The salary range is between $52,705 and $66,672, depending on qualifications, experience, department budgets, and industry data. Employees receive more than just a paycheck. Under moderate direction of the Associate Vice President, this position is responsible for the administration of compensation related activities in support of the university's salary administration program.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Form and maintain partnerships with assigned HR Shared Service areas in achieving performance excellence; generate options and recommendations that are responsive to multiple interests, reflective of best practices, and aligned with unit goals. Develop relationships with customers and become a business partner in advising and counseling on compensation issues. (25%) Review proposed salary actions to ensure compliance with established university guidelines and policies and federal and state regulations. Provide resources to management in writing new job descriptions and revising current ones. Oversee the administration of employee job descriptions. Review proposals for new or revised positions; analyze information and recommend appropriate job classification, Federal Labor Standards Act (FLSA) exemption, and salary grade assignment. Advise management and provide alternative options for compensation actions for employees. (25%) Analyze and approve salary exception requests for new hires and internal promotions submitted by employment recruiters. (10%) Administer performance review system to ensure compliance with salary merit guidelines. (10%) Assist in organizational structure development and restructuring efforts to support job description reviews and evaluations. (8%) Participate in salary surveys, collect and analyzes market data to determine organization's market relationship. Monitor internal and external competitive pay practices. Support the senior compensation analyst in analysis of multiple sources of salary survey data annually and make recommendations for regular staff salary structure in response to changing organizational needs and market values. (8%) Evaluate requests for additional pay. Research and approve HCM additional payment requests. (8%)NONESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Participate in developing and delivering training sessions to managers. (3%) May conduct job analysis and desk audits to determine appropriate salary level according to compensation guidelines and policy. Collaborate and coordinate employment process through other key departments, such as the Attorney's office, Health Services, and Environmental Health and Safety. Frequent contact with faculty, hiring managers, staff and internal applicants to explain policy and procedure. Frequent contact to explain the application of compensation policy and address concerns to a supervisor or employee.External:
Contact with professional references, organizations and vendor partners. Occasional contact with peer institutions and other organizations when researching, soliciting and/or providing compensation survey data.Students:

No direct supervisory responsibility.QUALIFICATIONS
Experience:
1 to 3 years of related experience, preferably in human resources and/or related to compensation and employment activities.Education:
Bachelor's degree required.REQUIRED SKILLS

Working knowledge of Microsoft Office application (Word, Excel and Access); knowledge of webpage maintenance; knowledge of HR information systems (PeopleSoft and/or Oracle HR database system preferred); proficient in the use of the internet. Demonstrated history of successful support, education, and advocacy for all students, aligned with the values, mission, and messaging of the university, while adhering to the staff policy on conflict of commitment and interest.
