Job Description

HR Benefits Specialist II Location:
Sacramento, CA Schedule:
Hybrid, Monday-Friday Position Summary This role is responsible for benefits eligibility, enrollment, life event processing, claims support, and vendor coordination, while ensuring accurate system data, compliance, and high-quality employee service. Responsibilities Administer employee health and welfare benefits, including eligibility determination, enrollments, and life event changes Support benefits claims review and appeals by gathering, reviewing, and documenting required information Maintain accurate case files and HRIS data prior to transmission to third-party administrators Reconcile premium billing, vendor reports, and benefits invoices Audit benefits data and support compliance, reporting, and validation activities Respond to escalated employee inquiries and coordinate issue resolution with vendors and internal teams Support open enrollment activities, wellness programs, education assistance reimbursements, and year-end processes Track cases, documentation, and issue resolution in a high-volume environment Participate in process improvements, system testing, and user acceptance testing (UAT) as needed Qualifications High School Diploma or equivalent experience Minimum 1 year of experience in HR operations, benefits administration, or a related HR support role Experience with benefits eligibility, enrollment, claims, or appeals processing Experience working with HRIS or benefits administration systems Ability to interpret benefits policies, regulations, and compliance requirements Experience reconciling benefits billing, premiums, or vendor reports Experience supporting third-party administrators or benefits vendors Strong data entry, reporting, and documentation skills Ability to perform basic calculations (percentages, deductions, premiums) Experience managing multiple cases and priorities in a deadline-driven environment Experience in healthcare or large enterprise HR environments Experience supporting open enrollment and qualifying life event changes Exposure to audit processes, data validation, or compliance reviews Participation in UAT or HR systems testing, Microsoft Excel or reporting tools Experience working in shared services or centralized HR operations Benefit offerings include medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short-term disability, additional voluntary benefits, EAP program, commuter benefits and 401K plan. Pay Details:
