Scion Staffing has been engaged to conduct a search for a Verification of Benefits (VOB) Specialist for a rapidly growing behavioral healthcare organization. This is a fully remote opportunity open to candidates across the U.S., with preference for candidates located in Central or West Coast time zones.
POSITION OVERVIEW
The Verification of Benefits Specialist plays a critical role in supporting patient admissions and financial clearance processes through accurate, timely insurance verification. This position is ideal for someone who understands that VOB work goes far beyond simply reviewing payer portals and requires strong communication skills, insurance knowledge, and confidence navigating conversations directly with insurance providers. The ideal candidate brings hands-on experience completing comprehensive benefit verifications across commercial insurance, Medicare, Medicaid, Tricare, and behavioral health-related coverage plans in a fast-paced healthcare environment.PERKS:

Complete comprehensive insurance benefit verifications for behavioral health services including IOP, residential, detox, and related treatment programs Utilize payer portals to obtain eligibility information and contact insurance providers directly to confirm and clarify benefit details when needed Accurately document verification details, reference numbers, and payer communications within CRM/call center software systems Support financial clearance processes by identifying coverage limitations, authorization requirements, deductibles, out-of-pocket costs, and other benefit details Manage a shared verification queue while maintaining productivity and accuracy in a high-volume environment Work across a broad range of payers including commercial insurance, Medicare, Medicaid, Tricare, and multiple state Medicaid plansQUALIFICATIONS
Recent hands-on Verification of Benefits (VOB) experience within a healthcare or behavioral health environment Strong understanding of insurance terminology, payer structures, and benefit verification workflows Comfortable communicating directly with insurance companies and navigating detailed payer conversations Experience working with commercial insurance, Medicare, Medicaid, and Tricare plans IOP, Residential, Detox, or Substance Use Disorder (SUD) experience is highly preferred but not requiredCOMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
