JOB SUMMARY
Under the direction of the HR Director, the Benefits Specialist is responsible for the administration of the Health and Welfare benefits, the HRIS System, FMLA and other Leave of Absence Programs. This role will lead the development, implementation, communication and administration of employee benefit programs. It will work closely with employees, Leadership Team, Managers at the Dealerships and Third-Party vendors to ensure the accurate, efficient and timely administration of these programs. This position requires the exercise of discretion and independent judgement with highly confidential matters of significance.
ESSENTIAL POSITION FUNCTIONS AND PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
Planning Monitor plan metrics, benchmarks trends and legislative/regulatory updates to develop plan recommendations that align with company strategy. Coordinate with the HR team, brokers, account managers and local office managers to plan and execute annual Open Enrollment meetings. Operations Serve as the Company's expert, policy owner, program manager, primary point of contact and trainer for all Health and Welfare Benefits, HRIS System, WC, FMLA and other Leave of Absence plans. Leverage HRIS System functionality, ensuring best practice business process/workflows, end-user experience and reporting and analytics. Work closely with HRIS account manager to ensure system optimization, proper security and configuration and to support organizational change and growth. Manage FMLA and other Leaves of Absence including communicating, submitting and monitoring leave requests extensions and re-certifications, limited duty and no restriction return to work plans and any other relevant information regarding leave of absence. Serve as the primary backup to the Workers Compensation function. This will involve assistance in reporting injuries, assisting in claim management/follow-up and tracking. Direct the day-to-day operations of the Health and Welfare Benefit programs (group health, dental, vision, short-term and long-term disability, life, flexible spending, accident, hospital, etc.). Provide customer service support to internal customers. Develop communication tools to enhance understanding of the company's benefits and policies. Design and distribute materials and provide training and support. Manage third-party relationships to which any related activities have been outsourced. Maintain a high level of communication with the members of HR as well as the Leadership Team and the local Dealership Team providing information, guidance and consultation as necessary. Work with the Office Managers to implement best practices from a process standpoint to produce best in class results for the dealership. Participates in integrations related to merger and acquisition activities. Reporting Analyze and report out on all assigned tasks given by the HR Director. POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Education & Experience B.S degree in Human Resources or related field preferred or equivalent experience or equivalent combination of education and experience. 3+ years' experience in WC, LOA administration, Benefits administration and/or HR Generalist role preferred. Knowledge of all pertinent federal and state regulations, filling and compliance requirements, both adopted and pending, affecting employee benefits programs, including FMLA, USERRA, ADA, ERISA, Section 125, Workers' Comp, Medicare, COBRA, ACA and other regulations Proficiency in Microsoft Office products (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook). With strong skills using Excel pivot tables and v-lookups. Excellent communication and articulation skills, both oral and written. Very organized and attentive to details. Strong follow through and a sense of urgency. Prefer experience in transportation industry within a multi-state environment. Prefer certification as
