BRIEF DESCRIPTION
The purpose of this position is to provide administrative and customer service support to the City's Risk Management and Benefits functions. This includes assisting employees, retirees, and the public with questions related to benefits, insurance, and claims; processing and tracking claims for damages; coordinating with insurance providers and medical clinics; and maintaining accurate and organized records. The position ensures timely responses to benefit and claims inquiries, compliance with documentation requirements, and effective communication between employees, retirees, vendors, and the City. The role also assists with open enrollment, wellness initiatives, and retiree benefit programs, while serving as a resource for employees navigating benefits or claim-related issues. By maintaining records, managing communications, and ensuring accuracy in processing, this position plays a key role in supporting the City's risk management and employee services functions.

Schedules may be subject to change with or without advance notice 2 S Staff the front desk at all times, greet and assist visitors, answer phones, provide guidance to customers, and ensure courteous service. 3 S Receive and process claims for damage, maintain claim files, and ensure timely follow-up with employees, citizens, and insurance providers. 4 S Provide customer service support for active employees and retirees regarding benefit programs, claim status, and coverage questions. 5 S Assist with benefits administration tasks such as open enrollment, wellness initiatives, and retiree benefit coordination. 6 S Maintain accurate records of claims, benefits, and insurance correspondence; ensure files are updated, organized, and searchable in electronic and paper systems. 7 S Track deadlines and ensure timely responses to insurance carriers, legal representatives, or state agencies regarding claims and benefits, and prepare correspondence, reports, and supporting documentation related to claims and benefits programs. 8 S Support the Risk Management and HR team with special projects, trainings, and events, as assigned.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Experience-Related Requirements Over six months and up to and including one year. Vocational/ Educational Preparation Requires High school graduation or GED equivalent supplemented by specialized courses/training equivalent to completion of one year of college
