Job Description

Job Summary The Manager of Compensation and Benefits oversees compensation for Tribal Operations team members of the Shakopee Mdewakanton Sioux Community (SMSC). This role is responsible for outlining philosophy and guidance, salary structures, job leveling, benchmark positions to market data, compensation projects, and providing guidance to leaders and HR to support in attracting and motivating talent. In addition, the Manager of Compensation and Benefits is responsible for overseeing the administration of team member benefits. Primary Job Duties Lead compensation work to support the SMSC's business goals and budget guidelines, including merit and market adjustment processes and bonus-related pay. Ensure adherence to compensation laws, including Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) and pay equity regulations. Advise and consult with Tribal Operations leaders and HR team members on compensation studies, issues, and pay recommendations based on market trends. Partner with leaders and HR team members to support annual compensation reviews and pay adjustments and bonuses. Work in partnership with Finance to provide analytical support for compensation modeling and cost projections. In partnership with Tribal Operations leaders and HR leadership, coordinate the annual benefits renewals and open enrollment processes with vendors and other internal stakeholders. Ensure benefits enrollment, eligibility, and deduction are accurately recorded and maintained in the HRIS and payroll system. Partner on vendor relationships, contracts, renewals, and service-level agreements. Ensure a smooth experience for team members on all leave programs. Integrate leave management with payroll processing, benefits continuation, accommodations, and workers' compensation. Ensure leave data is properly documented and maintained in personnel files and HRIS records. Maintain confidentiality and protection of team member personal data. Lead, develop, and inspire a high-performing Compensation and Benefits team. Hire, coach, mentor, and develop team members; set clear goals and expectations; manage performance; and build a culture grounded in accountability, trust, continuous learning, and innovation while fostering an engaging, positive, and productive team environment. MINIMUM EDUCATION, TRAINING, CERTIFICATION and
EXPERIENCE
required to meet the expectations of this job: Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business, or a related field. 5+ years of experience in Compensation. 4+ years of experience supporting benefits eligibility, enrollment, life events, deductions, vendor feeds, and reconciliation in a benefits administration environment. Advanced proficiency in the use of personal computers, MS Office Applications, and HR-related software. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills. Advanced quantitative skills, including data manipulation, statistical analysis, and visualization. Demonstrated ability to work within and collaborate with a team. Willingness and ability to take initiative and operate independently. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Pay:
$140,000.00 - $160,000.00 per year
