Job Summary The Title IX Officer supports the Office of Title IX Compliance through program development, training, investigations, and supervision of student assistants. The position works closely with students, the campus community, and the public to provide education and outreach on gender-based discrimination, sexual misconduct, and interpersonal violence. The officer serves as a key point of contact for students, faculty, and staff seeking information, support, and resources, while ensuring impartial and professional services. This role requires strong communication skills, attention to detail, professionalism, and a commitment to excellent customer service.
Essential Duties Assist the Title IX Coordinator with cases arising under the Title IX and Non-Discrimination Policy, including serving as an assigned investigator.
Support the intake, assessment, and documentation of complaints involving sexual misconduct and discrimination. Evaluate reports to determine policy applicability and route matters through the appropriate process.
Conduct investigations for assigned cases, including developing investigation plans and timelines, interviewing complainants, respondents, and witnesses, and gathering relevant evidence. Ensure all investigations are handled in a prompt, fair, neutral, and thorough manner.
Provide information to complainants and respondents regarding their rights, available resources, and the investigation process. Maintain strict confidentiality and handle all matters with sensitivity and professionalism.
Prepare detailed and well-organized documentation, including maintaining accurate records and notes throughout the investigative process. Produce comprehensive written investigative reports that clearly outline issues, summarize evidence, and align findings with University policy.
Provide timely updates on case status and investigation progress to the Title IX Coordinator.
Coordinate and provide supportive and interim measures for students, including individualized assistance throughout their engagement with the Title IX Office.
Manage and respond to training requests received through departmental communication channels. Develop and deliver training programs, workshops, and educational outreach for students, faculty, and staff.
Oversee online training programs for incoming students and assist with maintaining and updating Title IX web content using institutional software systems.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Knowledge
Understanding of public safety, crisis management, and victim services.
Knowledge of computer software applications, including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook), Maxient, Banner, LiveWhale, and Adobe.
Skills
Strong oral and written communication skills.
Strong critical thinking skills, with the ability to anticipate and address potential issues.
Skilled in managing digital content, including social media and website platforms.
Abilities
Ability to work effectively and professionally with faculty, staff, students, and the general public.
Ability to organize and complete tasks accurately and within established timelines with minimal supervision.
Ability to perform effectively in high-pressure or stressful situations.
Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's Level Degree.
Preferred Qualifications Master's Level Degree.
Experience with execution of organizational policies that include investigation, analysis, and adjudication.
Experience working with students, student services, and/or victims of sexual assault, domestic violence, stalking.
