Job Description

HR Technician I Join the City of Colorado Springs' HR Solutions Center, our Tier 1 customer support hub for all HR-related questions and services. This entry-level role is a great opportunity to build a foundation in human resources while delivering high-quality service to City employees. This position is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, high-volume environment, enjoys helping others, and takes pride in accuracy and efficiency. This role focuses heavily on transactional HR support and customer service and is best suited for candidates who enjoy hands-on, detail-oriented work.

As an HR Technician I, you'll support day-to-day operations and serve as a first point of contact for employees across the organization: Provide high-volume customer support by responding to phone, email, and walk-in HR inquiries Process personnel actions including hires, changes, benefit enrollment/modifications, and separations Perform accurate, high-volume data entry (e.g., job records, benefits, E-Verify) Explain HR policies, processes, and benefits to employees while ensuring compliance Run and review routine reports and queries to support HR operations Manage administrative tasks such as document intake and ID badge issuance and clearances Support team operations and perform other duties as assigned Learn more about this job by reviewing the class specification on the City of Colorado Springs Class Specifications page Successful candidates will bring: Effectively balances multiple priorities and deadlines Communicates clearly and professionally with a wide range of employees Quickly learns new systems, processes, and HR concepts Contributes to a positive, team-oriented work environment Maintains a high level of accuracy in a fast-paced environment High school diploma or GED One year of full-time, professional experience in human resources, administrative or a customer service role We value a diverse range of qualifications and experiences.
