Full Job Description Job Summary:
The Human Resource Assistant provides administrative support to the Human Resources department at Wellroot Family Services. This role supports payroll, benefits administration, employee records, onboarding, and HR compliance activities while ensuring accuracy and confidentiality. The HR Assistant serves as a resource for employees by helping answer routine questions related to payroll, benefits, leave requests, and HR processes, while supporting the overall efficiency of the department. This role provides administrative support to the human resource function as needed, including record-keeping, file maintenance and HRIS entry, as well as cross-functional support for office administration as needed.
Responsibilities:
Processes semi-monthly payroll for exempt, non-exempt, and hourly employees, including reviewing timecards for accuracy. Maintains employee records, HRIS data, and personnel files in compliance with company policies and applicable regulations. Supports employee benefits administration, including enrollments, changes, terminations, and responding to routine employee questions. Assists employees with leave-of-absence paperwork and tracks documentation related to medical leave, FMLA, disability, and personal leave requests. Coordinates onboarding activities for new hires, including preparing orientation materials, assigning equipment, and scheduling onboarding sessions. Prepares employment-related documents such as separation notices, verification requests, employee letters, and memos. Assists with maintaining compliance postings, reports, and documentation required for audits and regulatory requirements. Runs standard HR and payroll reports as requested by management. Supports annual open enrollment activities and assists with system updates and employee communications. Assists with monitoring pre-employment requirements such as background checks, MVR reporting, and required employee documentation. Runs pre-employment and in-service background checks including MVR reports, fingerprint checks. Provides general administrative support to the HR department, including filing, scanning, record maintenance, and data entry. Assists with employee engagement activities, wellness initiatives, recognition programs, and company events. Supports payroll and benefits audits by gathering documentation and reviewing records for accuracy. Assists with
ACA, OSHA, W-2
corrections, and other compliance-related administrative tasks as needed. Responds to employment verification requests and routine employee inquiries. Provides backup support for front desk, including lunch breaks and absences. Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
At least five years related experience required; HR department support preferred. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines. Ability to prioritize tasks. High level of collaboration in peer relationships. Focus on welcoming and service mindset for internal customers. Demonstrates sensitivity to the needs of clients who are present in the office. Forward-thinking and proactive in work matters. Strong interpersonal relationship skills. Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software. Proficiency with or the ability to quickly learn the organizations HRIS.
Work Environment:
This position is located at the Wellroot office in Tucker, Georgia, and the work is conducted in an office setting and across the campus. Fast-paced, working with staff supporting vulnerable clients. The ability to maintain a flexible work schedule which may include some evenings and weekends is required. Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds. Usually sits in front of a computer 80% of the time.
