Job Description

The Payroll/HR Specialist is responsible for processing accurate and timely payroll while ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. This role offers an excellent opportunity to contribute to a dynamic organization committed to operational excellence and employee well-being. The successful candidate will demonstrate proficiency in payroll systems, data entry, benefits administration, and HRIS platforms, with a focus on accuracy, confidentiality, and compliance. Duties Process payroll accurately using the HRIS system ensuring compliance with applicable laws and company policies. Maintain employee records within HRIS platforms, updating personal information, benefits enrollment, and employment status changes. Reconcile payroll data with accounting records using QuickBooks or other financial software to ensure consistency across financial statements. Assist with benefits administration including enrollment, changes, and inquiries related to health insurance, retirement plans, and other employee benefits. Support accounts payable and receivable functions by processing invoices, tracking expenses, and managing vendor payments related to payroll and HR activities. Prepare journal entries for payroll expenses and conduct account reconciliations for general ledger accuracy. Collaborate with the HR team to facilitate onboarding, offboarding, and employee engagement initiatives while maintaining confidentiality. Utilize analysis skills to identify discrepancies or issues in payroll processing or financial data and recommend corrective actions. Requirements Proven experience with payroll management systems such as Workday, Paychex, ADP, Kronos, or Ceridian. Strong knowledge of accounting principles including double entry bookkeeping, debits & credits, journal entries, and general ledger reconciliation. Experience in benefits administration and human resources functions Excellent data entry skills with high accuracy and attention to detail. Understanding of tax regulations related to payroll processing and governmental accounting standards. Ability to analyze financial data effectively while maintaining strict confidentiality of sensitive information. Strong organizational skills with the capacity to manage multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced setting.
