Job Title:
Human Resources Assistant (2nd Shift) Job Description We are seeking a dedicated Human Resources Assistant to support a fast-paced manufacturing environment on 2nd shift. In this role, you partner closely with operations and shift leadership to manage employee relations, support workforce needs, and ensure HR compliance during off-shift hours. You serve as the primary on-site HR contact for 2nd shift employees, providing guidance, coaching, and administrative support while helping to foster a positive, engaged workplace culture. Responsibilities Serve as the on-site HR support for 2nd shift employees and leadership, acting as the primary point of contact for HR-related questions and concerns. Handle employee relations issues by providing coaching, conducting investigations, and recommending appropriate actions in alignment with company policies and employment law. Assist with the full employee lifecycle on 2nd shift, including onboarding, orientation, and terminations, ensuring accurate documentation and a professional experience. Administer HR policies and procedures consistently across the shift, and provide guidance to supervisors and employees on their interpretation and application. Partner with supervisors to monitor and support attendance, performance, and employee engagement, including coaching leaders on HR best practices. Maintain accurate HR records through effective data entry and HR systems usage, including updates related to employee status, attendance, and other personnel information. Support recruiting efforts for hourly and shift-based roles by assisting with candidate screening, scheduling, and coordination of interviews as needed. Provide clerical and administrative HR support, including preparing documents, reports, and correspondence using Microsoft Office tools such as Outlook and Excel. Deliver responsive, high-quality customer service to employees and leaders, ensuring timely follow-up and resolution of HR inquiries. Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and employment regulations during off-shift hours, escalating issues appropriately when needed. Drive and support HR initiatives related to retention, culture, and communication, helping to create a positive, team-oriented environment on 2nd shift. Collaborate with day-shift HR colleagues to ensure consistent HR practices and smooth handoffs between shifts. Essential Skills At least 2 years of human resources experience, preferably in a manufacturing or automotive environment. Proven experience handling employee relations issues, including coaching, conflict resolution, and basic investigations. Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to make sound judgments and recommendations in HR matters. Ability to work independently and make decisions during off-shift hours with limited on-site supervision. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with employees at all levels. Demonstrated conflict resolution skills and the ability to manage sensitive situations with professionalism and confidentiality. Knowledge of HR policies, employment law, and HR best practices applicable to a manufacturing environment. Proficiency in HR administration, including data entry and maintenance of employee records. Experience using HR systems and tools to manage employee information and processes. Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Outlook and Microsoft Excel, for communication, reporting, and documentation. Strong customer service orientation, with a focus on supporting both employees and leadership in a timely and professional manner. Ability to perform clerical and administrative tasks accurately and efficiently in a fast-paced setting. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience supporting HR functions in a manufacturing, warehouse, or production environment. Background in recruiting and onboarding, including scheduling and coordinating interviews and new hire activities. Familiarity with managing HR processes for shift-based workforces, including attendance, performance, and engagement programs. Comfort working in a high-visibility role that directly supports key production operations. Interest in career growth within a well-established organization and willingness to take on additional HR responsibilities over time. Work Environment This role operates within a manufacturing setting that includes time on the production floor, walking around a warehouse, and working in an office environment. You support 2nd shift operations and must be comfortable being physically present on the shop floor to interact with employees and supervisors. The position involves working in a fast-paced, stable, and team-oriented environment where you collaborate closely with operations and production teams. You regularly use HR systems and Microsoft Office tools such as Outlook and Excel to complete your work. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Georgetown, KY. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $25.00/hr.
