Hiring Agency Justice & Public Safety Cabinet | Department of Corrections Location 1612 Dawkins Rd LaGrange, KY 40031 USA Description The mission of DOC is to protect the citizens of the Commonwealth and to provide a safe, secure and humane environment for staff and offenders in carrying out the mandates of the legislative and judicial processes; and, to provide opportunities for offenders to acquire skills which facilitate non-criminal behavior. The Postal Technician I is a vital part of this mission through performing complex duties in the mailroom.
Responsibilities may include:
Searching and processing incoming and outgoing mail for staff and inmates Assists staff and inmates with proper mailing and shipping procedures Maintains logs Maintains and operates postal equipment Maintains and orders mailroom supplies The ideal candidate for this position will have strong observation skills, strong communication skills, be self-motivated, be well organized. Minimum Requirements

Working Conditions Incumbents working in this job title requires daily travel to pick up and deliver mail. Probationary Period This job has an initial and promotional probationary period of 6 months, except as provided in
KRS 18A.111.
