We are a premiere entertainment venue presenting thoroughbred & exotic animal races, slots, video poker and simulcasting year-round. Located in New Orleans, Fair Grounds operates a slot-machine gaming facility and 13 off-track betting parlors throughout southeast Louisiana.
JOB SUMMARY
Performs customer service functions by supporting the HR Department with team member requests and inquiries while addressing administrative duties to support the HR Department staff.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Assist HR team with onboarding of new team members. Create and distribute identification badges. Updates new hire photos in the database for surveillance/compliance purposes. Assist with the distribution of employee uniforms and managing inventory counts. Assist with the processing ARIBA invoicing for the department. Assist with the administrative processing of gaming and racing license applications when needed. Assist with the processing and auditing of I-9's and Signature Cards as required (i.e., annually, monthly, quarterly). Assist with the coordination new hire orientation and training classes. Assists new hires and applicants with the application process. Update communication boards. Provides administrative support to the HR Department including scheduling meetings and handling correspondence. Utilizes SAP system to lookup employee information (payroll and general inquiries). Coordination of monthly birthday card distribution. Creating and pulling HR reports when needed. Possess the ability to use extreme confidentiality in the handling of all employee information. Ensure proper maintenance of applicant files. Distribute mail and manages Mail Room. Pickup of packages from Security Office as needed. Distributes payroll checks. Assist with preparation and coordination with HR Employee Events (i.e. Ambassador Program, Winner's Circle, etc.). Perform any other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Must be 21 years or older. Must be able to obtain a Louisiana Racing License.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Required High School Diploma; Bachelor's degree a plus. Two to four years of HR experience is strongly recommended.
Required Skills:
Knowledge of computer software (Microsoft Office Suite). High level of interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential situations and documentation. Ability to operate most standard office equipment. Ability to read, write, speak, understand, or communicate in English sufficiently to perform the necessary functions of this position. Attention to detail in composing, typing and proofing materials, establishing priorities, and meeting deadlines. Ability to multi-task. Excellent telephone and oral communication skills. Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.

The work environment consists of very non-demanding surroundings with a low noise level. Will occasionally work in extreme heat or cold conditions.
