Non-Profit HR & Onboarding Coordinator Location Detroit, MI 48224 Date Posted April 09, 2026 Job ID 14432 Employment Type Contract Scion Nonprofit Staffing has been engaged to conduct a search for an HR & Onboarding Coordinator for a growing nonprofit organization. This is an onsite, temporary 3-month assignment based in Detroit, MI.
POSITION OVERVIEW
The HR & Onboarding Coordinator will support daily HR operations with a focus on onboarding, staff communications, and maintaining accurate employee data. This role partners closely with internal teams to ensure smooth staffing processes across active programs. The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Manage onboarding processes, including collecting documentation, coordinating background checks, and tracking completion status
  • Support HR communications by drafting and distributing internal updates
  • Track and maintain staff and student attendance for reporting and payroll support
  • Maintain accurate HR records, rosters, and staffing updates
  • Ensure HR processes are followed in alignment with internal policies and escalate issues as needed
  • Partner with internal stakeholders to support day-to-day staffing operations
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Alignment with a community-focused organization and team-driven environment
  • Experience supporting HR functions such as onboarding, compliance, or staff coordination
  • Familiarity with compliance requirements related to working with youth populations is a plus
  • Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate across teams
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, and HR systems (ADP Workforce Now a plus)
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
This is a temporary, 3-month assignment offering $33-$36/hour, depending on experience, with the opportunity to contribute within a collaborative, fast-paced team.
