The Springfield Police Department is seeking a detail-oriented and tech-savvy professional to join our team as a Records Management System (RMS) Assistant . This position plays a critical role in supporting the daily functionality, maintenance, and improvement of the Police Department's Records Management System, helping ensure accurate data, efficient operations, and reliable support for department staff and partner agencies. What This Position Will Do Assist with the daily administration and maintenance of the Records Management System (RMS) Support system performance, security, and data integrity to minimize service disruptions Create and manage user profiles and system permissions Conduct quality control reviews to identify and correct missing or conflicting data Assist with software upgrades, testing, and implementation of enhancements Provide troubleshooting support and technical assistance to department employees and partner agencies Help create training materials and provide user training on RMS operations Research and answer system-related questions for users Track enhancement requests and assist with documenting testing results and system improvements Serve as backup support for the RMS Coordinator when needed What You Will Need Strong attention to detail and organizational skills Excellent communication and customer service abilities Ability to troubleshoot technical issues and explain information to both technical and non-technical users Ability to maintain accurate records and prepare clear reports Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment Ability to maintain professionalism and confidentiality in a law enforcement setting Experience, Education, and Training A minimum of two years' experience working with a law enforcement Records Management System (RMS); OR An Associate's Degree in Computer Science, Criminal Justice or a related area; AND One year of related experience that includes working with a law enforcement RMS. Licensing/Certification Obtain and maintain state certification as a MULES terminal operator as required by department assignment; Possess a valid Driver's License in order to operate a vehicle for the purpose of completing job duties depending on assignment.
