Job Description

Human Resources and Operations Coordinator
NCAPRI - 4.0
Raleigh, NC Job Details $19.00 - $22.60 an hour 1 hour ago Full Job Description Job Summary The North Carolina A. Philip Randolph Institute (NC APRI) is seeking a Human Resources and Operations Coordinator to support the continued growth and sustainability of its statewide organizing work. This position will report to the Associate Executive Director and support operations across all offices. The role is designed to bring structure, consistency, and accountability to internal people systems in a fast-paced, community-centered environment. This is not a traditional HR role, but one that blends administration, systems-building, and organizational development to meet the realities of a statewide field operation. The Human Resources and Operations Coordinator will be responsible for managing the organization's recruitment and hiring processes from start to finish. This includes posting job opportunities, tracking and managing applications, and coordinating interviews across multiple offices and leadership teams. The position will also support the development and standardization of offer letters and contracts to ensure consistency in expectations, language, and compliance, and will work closely with leadership for final approvals. A core component of this role is coordinating onboarding for all new hires. The coordinator will ensure that onboarding processes are structured, consistent, and fully executed across offices, including tracking start dates, collecting required documentation, such as tax and employment forms, and maintaining organized, accessible staff files. This role will also oversee the development and maintenance of internal HR systems, including utilizing platforms such as PeopleSoft or equivalent systems, and building simple, effective tracking tools where gaps currently exist. In addition, the position will play a critical role in payroll coordination by collecting staff time and compensation data from office leads, ensuring accuracy, and submitting payroll data in a timely manner. The coordinator will identify discrepancies, follow up as needed, and work alongside finance or payroll vendors to ensure smooth processing. The role will also manage the full employee lifecycle, including handling staff exits, terminations, and maintaining proper documentation, while identifying patterns or trends that may inform organizational improvements. The Human Resources and Operations Coordinator will also support the development and standardization of internal policies and procedures. This includes proposing and documenting clear HR policies that reflect both compliance requirements and the organization's values, and ensuring those policies are implemented consistently across all offices. The role will further contribute to building a structured performance management system, including researching and implementing performance reviews and exploring 360-degree feedback models that align with organizational goals and accountability standards. Success in this role will be measured by the establishment of clear, consistent HR systems across the organization, including well-organized staff files, standardized onboarding processes, accurate and timely payroll coordination, and the implementation of structured performance management systems. Ultimately, this position is intended to help NC APRI build the internal capacity needed to sustain and scale its work, while supporting the people who make that work possible.
