Job Description
•This position is a Competitive Civil Service Position and requires the applicant to be: Reachable on an existing Dutchess County Human Resources Certification of Eligible List; or, Currently working in, or previously held a permanent School Personnel Associate civil service title; or, Other candidates who have equivalent education and licensing are encouraged to apply and will be considered as allowed per Civil Service regulations. Arlington Central School District is currently recruiting for a full-time, 12-Month School Personnel Associate with full benefits. This position is at the Central Administration Office and is a Confidential Non-Unit position. This is a professional position involving responsibilty for managing and coordinating various aspects of personnel work and must be knowledgeable in Federal/State/Education laws, rules andregulations relating to personnel work. Additionally, this position requires strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively as a team. Typical work may include but is not limited to the following: Monitors and administers staffing procedures relating to employee vacancies, appointments, transfers, leaves of absence, resignations, retirements, suspension and terminations; Provides information to employees concerning employment status, salary, benefits, etc. relating to their employment; Monitors federal and state legislation and implements changes that impact personnel practicies, procedures or employee beenfits; Works with NYS Education Department and Dutchess County Personnel Department in all matters involving personnel law, regulations, procedures and paperwork; Proficiently uses computer software such as complex spreadsheets, word processing, calendar, email and integrated personnel/payroll database to perform assigned duties; Completes special projects as assigned; Other duties as required by department Administrator(s) Applicant must have knowledge of: Modern public personnel administration and current laws, rules and regulations in order to advise on appropriate procedures and actions; NYSED and NYS laws and regulations in order to advise others on various issues and to coordinate reporting activities; Ability to communicate effectively with employees, union officials, department representatives and others to explain and defend a variety of instructiona, non-instructional and civil services issues.
