Human Resources Assistant for Nye Automotive Group Position Overview We are seeking an organized, detail-oriented Part-Time HR Assistant to support our growing team, play a vital role in our HR operations, and contribute to a positive workplace culture. In this role, you will handle day-to-day administrative tasks, maintain accurate employee records, and assist with recruiting and onboarding. Position Type:
Part-Time (approx. 20-30 hours per week / flexible hours as needed)
Schedule:
Monday•Friday, between the hours of 8 am•5 pm
Pay:
$18•$22 per hour based on experience
Location:
Nye Auto locations, Oneida & Rome, NY Key Responsibilities 1.
Administration, Compliance & Clerical Support Records Management:
Maintain and update digital and physical employee files, ensuring data accuracy in HR systems and compliance with labor laws and company policies.
Clerical Support:
Provide general clerical assistance, including filing, scanning, and copying documents.
Paperwork Processing:
Process HR-related paperwork, including employment verifications, background checks, status changes, and the preparation of HR reports and presentations.
Documentation:
Assist in updating and maintaining the employee handbook and other internal HR documentation.
Tracking:
Monitor employee attendance, paid time off (PTO), and training certifications.
Employee Inquiry Point of Contact:
Serve as a primary point of contact for routine employee inquiries regarding policies and benefits, directing them to the appropriate HR personnel when necessary. All other duties as assigned. 2.
Recruitment & Onboarding Support Talent Acquisition:
Post open positions on job boards, track applicant pipelines, schedule interviews for hiring managers, and maintain candidate records.
Onboarding Logistics:
Coordinate the onboarding logistics for new hires, including preparing digital welcome packages/packets and setting up IT profiles.
Orientation:
Conduct initial HR orientations to introduce new employees to company culture and policies. 3.
Training, Offboarding & Special Projects Training & Development:
Assist with the coordination and execution of employee training sessions.
Offboarding:
Assist with the coordination of exit interviews and ensure the return of company property.
Events & Initiatives:
Help organize, coordinate, and support special HR projects, such as employee engagement initiatives, open enrollment preparation, team events, and HR meetings. Qualifications & Skills Experience•Minimum of 1-2 years of administrative experience (prior HR experience or related coursework is preferred). Technical Skills Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) or Google Workspace, Social Media, and any other applicable computer programs. Familiarity with HRIS (Human Resources Information Systems) or ATS (Applicant Tracking Systems); experience with ADP is preferred but not required. Soft Skills & Professionalism Absolute discretion, high level of professionalism, and strict adherence to data confidentiality. Exceptional organizational, multitasking, and problem-solving skills with a strong attention to detail. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively part of a team. Education High School Diploma or equivalent required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field is preferred.
Knowledge:
Basic understanding of labor laws and regulations. Skills Proficient in communication and phone skills Computer literate with the ability to learn new programs Must be proficient in reading, writing, and language skills. Must be a team player and work well with others Work effectively in a face-paced environment Integrity, positive attitude, and a strong work ethic required
Qualifications:
To perform this job successfully An applicant must be able to pass a drug test. Must have a valid Driver's License. Must be 18 years of age or older and be authorized to work in the U.S.
