HVCC offers more than 80 degree and certificate programs in three schools: Business and Liberal Arts; Health Sciences; and Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM). Hudson Valley is one of 30 community colleges in the State University of York (SUNY) system and serves nearly 9,000 students each year. To be considered an applicant for this position you must meet the minimum qualifications as stated in this announcement. Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States without restrictions and appointment will be contingent upon completion of a background check.Position Summary:
The Human Resource Assistant will perform administrative tasks and services to support effective and efficient operations of the organization's human resource department.Key Responsibilities:
- Maintains accurate and up-to-date human resource files, records, and documentation.
- Process high volume of data in HRIS system.
- Assists in the administration of the college's benefits.
- Answers frequently asked questions from applicants and employees related to standard policies, benefits, hiring processes, etc.; refers more complex questions to appropriate senior-level HR staff or management.
- Maintains the integrity and confidentiality of human resource files and records.
- Performs periodic audits of HR files and records to ensure that all required documents are collected and filed appropriately.
- Provides clerical support to the HR department.
- Manages all new hire paperwork and personnel files.
- May assist with new hire orientation.
- Manage the front desk and welcome customers in person as well as the phone and email.
- Participate in the full cycle recruitment process, including sourcing, screening, interviewing and hiring. Attend job fairs.
- May supervisor college workers.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Required:
- Associate's degree in business administration, accounting, finance or related field.
- Three years of experience.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to manage sensitive and confidential situations with tact, professionalism, and diplomacy.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
- Proficient with or the ability to quickly learn payroll management, human resource information system (HRIS), and similar computer applications.
Preferred:
- Bachelor's degree in business administration, accounting, finance or related field.
- One year of experience.
