Job Description
The Victims Assistance Center is dedicated to supporting all members of our community impacted by violence and crime. The Human Resources & Office Coordinator is a key support role that blends Human Resources with administrative and operational oversight. This position ensures smooth day-to-day functioning of the workplace by managing recruitment, onboarding, benefits, and employee engagement, while also handling office logistics such as supplies, maintenance, insurance, and equipment tracking. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and committed to fostering a supportive, efficient, and inclusive work environment.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Human Resources Coordinate staff and supervisor trainings, including compliance topics (e.g., sexual harassment, civil rights) Manage recruitment processes: job postings, phone screenings, reference checks, interview questions, and application reviews Facilitate onboarding: background checks (SCR, SEL, fingerprinting), new hire paperwork, computer/email setup, and desk phone programming Conduct exit interviews and manage offboarding documentation Administer employee benefits: 401(k), disability, workers comp, Paid Family Leave (PFL), and annual renewals Track employee satisfaction and engagement through surveys and morale initiatives Maintain and update job descriptions and organizational charts Stay current on legal and compliance updates affecting HR policies Maintain accurate and confidential employee records, including personnel files, performance evaluations, and disciplinary documentation. Office & Operations Order and track office supplies and technology, including phones and computers Monitor and coordinate building maintenance, repairs, and inspections (fire extinguishers, alarms, elevator systems) Oversee agency insurance forms and applications Manage vehicle inspections and maintenance schedules Support phone system programming and troubleshooting Assist with tracking technology plans and upgrades
Qualifications:
Two or more years of experience in Human Resources, required. Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field, preferred Certifications including
SHRM-CP, PHR, HR
Generalist, and Notary Public preferred but not required Strong organizational skills and attention to detail Ability to manage multiple priorities with accuracy Familiarity with HR platforms, survey tools, and basic tech setup Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Commitment to confidentiality, equity, and trauma-informed practices Must maintain personal automobile insurance with a liability coverage limit of $100,000/$300,000 Must have valid driver's license Must submit to and pass a criminal background check and child abuse background check
