Departmental Technician Trainee 7-E9 The Departmental Technician position performs a variety of support activities for the Department of Health Human Services at its statewide local offices. This position provides technical support functions for the local offices' equipment, telephone system coordination, alarm and security systems, non-technical and limited technical system and problem detection, and reporting assistance. Conducts analysis, research, and completes special projects for the local office. Provides guidance to other staff within the office. Serves as the local offices' liaison and primary contact to and from the Department of Technology, Management and Budget (DTMB). The Departmental Technician position at the entry level works in a learning capacity performing many of the above assignments under close supervision. At the intermediate level, this position works in a developing capacity with increased responsibility for performing a range of assignments. The experienced level of this position uses independent judgment and makes decisions utilizing established methods and procedures. Position Description 7-E9 Level Departmental Technician 10 (Advanced Level) This advanced level Departmental Technician provides assistance to local office management and staff for a variety of support activities in the

local office. This position serves as a troubleshooter pertaining to local office technical support functions and performs advanced level research and analysis for local office management. Provides training to other staff within the office and serves as the local offices' liaison and primary contact to and from the DTMB. Experience Departmental Technician 7 One year of experience performing experienced-level administrative support activities equivalent to the 7-level in state service. Departmental Technician 8 One year of experience as a technician or paraprofessional equivalent to the entry level in state service. OR One year of experience performing administrative support activities equivalent to the 8-level in state service. Departmental Technician E9 Two years of experience as a technician or paraprofessional, including one year of experience equivalent to the intermediate level in state service. OR One year of experience performing advanced secretarial or supervisory administrative support activities equivalent to the 9-level in state service. Departmental Technician 10 Two years of experience as a supervisor of administrative support activities equivalent to the 9-level in state service. OR Two years of experience performing administrative support activities equivalent to the 9-level in state service. OR Three years of experience as a technician or paraprofessional, including one year of experience equivalent to the experienced level in state service. Alternate Education and Experience Alternate Education and Experience Departmental Technician (Trainee) 7 Two years of experience in a 7 level or higher non-administrative support ECP Group One classification. OR One year of experience as a first-line supervisor in an ECP Group Three classification. Departmental Technician 7 Completion of two years of college (60 semester or 90 term credits) may be substituted for the experience requirement. Departmental Technician 8 Possession of a Bachelor's degree may be substituted for the experience requirement. Departmental Technician E9 Possession of a Bachelor's degree and one year of job-related experience may be substituted for the experience requirement. Departmental Technician 10 Possession of a Bachelor's degree and one year of professional experience may be substituted for the experience requirement. Additional Requirements and Information The physical location of this position is 41227 Mound Rd, Sterling Heights, MI 48314 Based on operational needs and within established limits, remote work and alternate or hybrid work schedule requests for this position may be considered. Selected candidates who have been approved to work remotely or a hybrid schedule must complete that work within Michigan. Candidates should confirm work location and schedule at the time of interview. Employees will be provided computers to perform state work. Phones may also be provided for necessary communications. If working remotely, employees will be responsible for providing other components of a remote office at their own expense, including: A secure work location that allows privacy and prevents distractions. A high-speed internet connection of at least 25 Mbps download and 5 Mbps upload. Suitable lighting, furniture, and utilities.
