JOB DESCRIPTION
Primary Purpose:
To assist in the administration of the human resources affairs of the district in a manner that preserves confidentiality and projects a professional image of the department.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Major Responsibilities and Duties Enter and maintain accurate payroll records for all employees under the direction of the Director of HR Services, Instructional. Enter personnel actions for all instructional staff including but not limited to new hires, rehires, position changes, terminations, and changes in employment status or compensation. Generate reports as needed. Address and resolve payroll discrepancies and inquiries promptly. Assist with projects and initiatives related to payroll processes and HR services as directed. Assist Human Resources staff with clerical duties as needed. Perform all job duties in a confidential and responsible manner, demonstrating good judgment. Keep informed of and comply with all state and district policies and regulations concerning job duties. Attend workshops and/or seminars for professional development. Maintain personal schedule that lends itself to flexible work hours as the workload dictates. Handle multiple tasks under pressure with accuracy. Maintain confidentiality. Attendance at work is an essential function. Other duties as assigned by the supervisor or designee.
EXPERIENCE
QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum Education/Certification:
High School Diploma or
G.E.D. 30
credited college hours or five years of experience as a secretary or similar office/records management experience preferred Experience in a human resources environment preferred Valid Texas driver's license Eligible for coverage under the District's vehicle insurance program
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Strong analytical, communication and writing skills Exceptional computer skills Ability to exercise independent decision making Ability to greet the public in person and by telephone Accurate mathematical skills Effective interpersonal skills Detail oriented Proficiency in typing, word processing and file maintenance
OTHER INFORMATION
Equipment Used:
Computer, telephone, printer, calculator, copier, fax machine, shredder, scanner, and other common office equipment.
Working Conditions Mental/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:
Ability to concentrate (detailed work), communicate effectively (verbal and written); interpret policy, procedures, and data; reason, understand verbal instructions, analyze, differentiate, memorize, read, coordinate district functions, compile, compute, instruct, and maintain emotional control under stress. Heavy lifting and carrying (45 pounds and over), pushing, reaching above shoulders, use of fingers, specific visual requirements (using computer), specific hearing requirements (oral and phone conversations), frequent prolonged/irregular work hours.
