Human Resources Director Position Summary Commercial Express HVAC is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Human Resources & Payroll Administrator to support our growing team and help deliver an exceptional employee experience. This role serves as a key member of the Human Resources department, supporting employee onboarding, payroll administration, compliance activities, and day-to-day HR operations. The ideal candidate enjoys building positive relationships with employees, and can effectively balance multiple priorities while maintaining confidentiality and accuracy. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Human Resources Administration Support daily HR operations and employee lifecycle activities. Coordinate and facilitate new hire onboarding, including orientation and required employment documentation. Conduct new hire orientations and 30-, 60-, and 90-day employee follow-up meetings. Process background checks, security clearance documentation, I-9 verification, and E-Verify requirements. Maintain accurate employee records and HR documentation in accordance with company policies and regulatory requirements. Assist employees with benefits-related questions. Support employee engagement initiatives, recognition programs, and company events. Payroll & Timekeeping Review, audit, and reconcile employee timesheets to ensure accuracy and compliance with company policies. Coordinate payroll-related activities, including timekeeping corrections and payroll submissions. Assist with payroll processing and employee payroll inquiries. Compliance & Employee Support Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment regulations. Maintain confidentiality of employee information and sensitive business data. Support HR compliance audits and documentation requirements. Assist employees and managers with HR-related questions and provide exceptional internal customer service. Office Administration Manage office supplies & inventory. Coordinate employee uniforms, company-issued equipment, and related tracking processes. Support general office operations and administrative projects. Assist with company meetings, training events, and special initiatives as needed.
Requirements:
QUALIFICATIONS
Required 5+ years of experience in Human Resources, Payroll Administration, Office Administration, or related business operations. Experience utilizing HRIS and payroll systems. Knowledge of payroll processes, timekeeping administration, and HR compliance requirements. Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and professionalism. Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy. Experience with I-9 verification, E-Verify, background screening, and employee onboarding processes. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint). Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Preferred Experience with Paylocity HRIS and payroll systems. Benefits administration experience. Experience in construction, skilled trades, or service-based industries.
