This position provides leadership in the areas of payroll & benefits administration, employee relations, performance management, recruitment, onboarding and retention. Additionally, this position serves as a trusted resource for managers and employees and works collaboratively with leadership to foster a positive and productive workplace culture. This part-time position has the potential to grow into a full-time role as the organization expands.
Duties and Essential Responsibilities:
Human Resources Operations o Manage the administration of payroll, benefits, leave programs, onboarding and the maintenance of personnel records. o Assist in the development and maintenance of employee handbooks, policies and related documentation. o Prepare reports and maintain accurate records related to HR activities. o Ensure compliance with applicable federal, state and local employment laws and regulations. Employee Relations, Culture and Well-Being o Advise and guide managers on various employee relations matters, including performance management, and corrective actions. o Engage directly with employees to conduct trainings, exit interviews and investigations, as warranted. o Support employee development, engagement and retention initiatives, including developing and implementing programs and practices that support employee well-being and address compassion fatigue, workplace challenges and stress management. •Recruitment & Workforce Planning o Oversee full-cycle recruitment, including job postings, candidate screening, interviewing, reference checks, orientation and onboarding. o Partner with leadership to identify staffing needs and develop effective hiring strategies. •Human Resources Strategy o Work collaboratively with the President & CEO and team leaders to support organizational goals and strategic priorities. o Identify issues requiring escalation to senior leadership and provide appropriate recommendations. o Recommend and implement improvements to HR processes and procedures. Other duties, as assigned. Qualifications The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field preferred; PHR or SHRM certification a plus; Minimum of 5-7 years of progressive human resources experience with demonstrated success in payroll administration, benefits administration, employee relations, and recruitment; Thorough knowledge of California employment law and HR best practices, including wage and hour regulations, leave administration, employee relations and compliance requirements; Superior verbal and written communication skills; Excellent interpersonal, analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills; capable of working effectively with leadership and team members; Energetic, initiative-taking, flexible, and adaptable with a sense of humor; A self-starter who can work independently and manage multiple priorities; A team player with a love for companion animals, an attitude of service, and the ability to motivate others; and Computer fluency and proficiency in HRIS, payroll systems, Microsoft Office applications, and other technology tools supporting human resources functions.
Pay:
$54,000.00 - $56,250.00 per year
