Job Description

We are seeking an experienced, high-energy Human Resources (HR) Manager to oversee the personnel operations of our fast-paced automotive dealership. Managing HR in a dealership environment is unique; you will support a diverse workforce across multiple departments, including commission-based sales professionals, flat-rate automotive technicians, and hourly administrative staff. The ideal candidate is a proactive communicator, a hands-on problem solver, and a strategic partner who can balance regulatory compliance with the fast-moving needs of our variable and fixed operations.
Key Responsibilities Talent Acquisition & Onboarding:
Partner with department managers (Sales, Service, and Parts) to recruit, screen, and hire top-tier talent. Manage the end-to-end onboarding process, including background checks, drug screenings, and new-hire orientation.
Employee Relations & Culture:
Serve as the primary point of contact for employee inquiries, grievances, and conflict resolution. Foster a positive, collaborative workplace culture across all departments.
Compliance & Risk Management:
Ensure strict adherence to local, state, and federal labor laws (FLSA, FMLA, ADA, EEO). Maintain accurate employee files and oversee workplace safety/OSHA compliance alongside the Service Director.
Compensation & Benefits Administration:
Oversee the administration of employee benefits programs (health, dental, 401(k)). Partner with the accounting/payroll department to ensure accurate tracking of complex compensation structures, including flat-rate pay, commission draws, and performance bonuses.
Performance Management & Training:
Guide managers through the performance evaluation process, disciplinary actions, and terminations. Track compliance for manufacturer-mandated training and certifications. What We Offer Competitive base salary with annual performance reviews. Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance plans. 401(k) retirement plan with company match. Paid Time Off (PTO) and paid holidays. Life insurance and short/long-term disability options. Employee discounts on vehicle purchases, parts, and service. A professional, modern office environment with strong executive support.
Qualifications & Requirements Experience:
Minimum of 3-5 years of HR Generalist or HR Manager experience. Automotive dealership experience is highly preferred, though experience in high-volume retail, hospitality, or manufacturing environments will be considered.
Education/Certification:
Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field is preferred. SHRM-CP or PHR certification is a strong plus.
Industry Knowledge:
Deep understanding of complex payroll/compensation structures (commission, flat-rate) and dealership-specific employment dynamics.
Technical Skills:
Proficiency with HRIS platforms, applicant tracking systems (ATS), and standard office software (Microsoft Office, Google Workspace). Experience with dealership management systems (CDK, Reynolds & Reynolds) is a plus.
Interpersonal Skills:
Exceptional communication, active listening, and conflict-resolution abilities. Must possess the discretion necessary to handle confidential and sensitive information.
