Job Description
Responsibilities:
- Conduct a thorough assessment of HR records, workplace policies, and personnel documentation to identify gaps and bring materials up to date.
- Oversee compliance with California labor regulations, wage and hour standards, and collective bargaining obligations where applicable.
- Refresh the employee handbook and related policy documents to align with current legal requirements and organizational needs.
- Review payroll practices, time tracking, leave and accrual administration, and connected HR workflows, then recommend and help implement improvements.
- Handle employee relations matters by supporting performance discussions, workplace investigations, disciplinary actions, coaching efforts, and offboarding activities.
- Advise supervisors on consistent policy enforcement, documentation standards, and effective approaches to performance and conduct issues.
- Create and improve HR procedures, tools, and operational frameworks that can scale with the organization over time.
- Assist with talent acquisition activities, including recruiting coordination, interviewing support, hiring processes, onboarding, and workforce planning.
- Work closely with leadership to strengthen engagement, retention, accountability, and overall workplace culture across union and non-union teams.
- Provide day-to-day HR support for an employee population of approximately 85 and contribute to finance-related activities such as budgeting, reporting, or accounting coordination when needed.
