Position Summary The Human Resources Manager is responsible for overseeing all aspects of Human Resources operations across the organization. This role serves as a strategic business partner to ownership and leadership, ensuring compliance with California labor laws while fostering an engaging and supportive work environment. The ideal candidate is a people-focused HR professional with strong hospitality industry experience, excellent communication skills, and expertise in employee relations, recruiting, onboarding, HR compliance, and employee development. Essential Responsibilities Serve as a trusted advisor to managers and employees on HR-related matters. Foster a positive workplace culture aligned with Green Cheek Beer Co.'s values. Address employee concerns, conduct investigations, and recommend appropriate resolutions. Coach managers on employee relations, performance management, and leadership best practices. Promote employee engagement, retention, and workplace satisfaction initiatives. Support a culture of accountability, teamwork, and professional growth throughout the organization. Recruitment & Talent Acquisition Manage full-cycle recruiting efforts for brewery, taproom, restaurant, and corporate positions. Develop sourcing strategies to attract top talent. Coordinate interviews, candidate selection, offers, and hiring processes. Partner with department managers to identify staffing needs and workforce planning initiatives. Ensure a positive candidate's experience throughout the recruitment process. Onboarding & Employee Administration Manage all aspects of the employee onboarding process, ensuring a positive and seamless new hire experience. Coordinate new hire paperwork, employment documentation, policy acknowledgments, and orientation programs. Ensure employee records are accurate, complete, and maintained in compliance with company policies and legal requirements. Partner closely with the Payroll Department to ensure all employee information, including new hires, status changes, compensation updates, and terminations, is accurate and up to date. Review and process employee personnel changes, ensuring timely communication and documentation. Maintain HRIS data integrity and support system updates as needed. Serve as a resource for employees regarding employment documentation, policies, and company procedures. Collaborate with department managers to ensure onboarding, training, and employee transitions are completed efficiently. Support employee retention efforts by fostering a positive employee experience throughout the employee lifecycle. Administrative & Operational Support Partner closely with company owners and management teams to support daily business operations and organizational objectives. Participate in leadership meetings, providing HR guidance, updates, and administrative support as needed. Coordinate interdepartmental communication and assist with the implementation of company initiatives and projects. Support scheduling, meeting coordination, agenda preparation, and follow-up on action items. Assist with general office management responsibilities, ensuring efficient administrative processes across all locations. Maintain organized company records, documentation, and confidential business information. Collaborate with managers to streamline operational workflows and improve organizational effectiveness. Serve as a central point of contact between employees, managers, and ownership to ensure effective communication and timely resolution of issues. Support special projects, company events, employee engagement activities, and other business initiatives as assigned. Provide administrative support to ownership and leadership teams while maintaining professionalism, discretion, and confidentiality. Compliance & Risk Management Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local employment laws, including California labor laws. Maintain employee handbook, HR policies, workplace procedures, and required labor law postings. Conduct audits and maintain required employment documentation. Monitor legal and regulatory updates impacting employment practices. Manage workers' compensation claims, leave administration, and workplace accommodation. Coordinate responses to unemployment claims and employment-related inquiries. Recommend and implement best practices to minimize organizational risk. Performance Management & Development Support performance review processes and employee development initiatives. Assist managers with performance improvement plans, coaching conversations, and corrective actions. Identify training opportunities and coordinate employee development programs. Support leadership development and succession planning efforts. Assist managers in creating goals and development plans that align with business objectives.
Qualifications:
Required Bachelor's degree in human resources, Business Administration, or related field, or equivalent experience. Minimum 7 years of progressive Human Resources experience. Strong knowledge of California labor laws and employment regulations. Experience supporting hospitality, food and beverage, restaurant, brewery, or service industry environments. Experience utilizing HRIS systems and working closely with payroll functions; Paycom experience preferred. Excellent interpersonal, communication, and conflict-resolution skills. Ability to build relationships and communicate effectively with employees at all levels of the organization. Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple priorities. Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and business communication platforms. California HR Certification. SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, or SPHR certification. Multi-location hospitality, restaurant, brewery, or manufacturing experience. Experience supporting a growing entrepreneurial organization. Experience implementing HR processes, systems, and employee engagement initiatives.
