Position Overview We're looking for a hands-on Human Resources Manager who can both run the day-to-day HR function and partner with leadership to scale the business. This role reports directly to the CFO and works closely with executive leadership. You'll have real influence, high visibility, and the opportunity to shape HR at a growing manufacturing company. This is ideal for someone who: Likes ownership and autonomy Is strong in California HR compliance Can operate both strategically and tactically Key Responsibilities HR Operations & Compliance Lead HR operations across California and Illinois Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local laws (strong CA focus) Oversee wage & hour, meal/rest breaks, and timekeeping practices Handle employee relations, investigations, and risk mitigation Maintain policies, procedures, and documentation Support safety programs and OSHA compliance Talent Acquisition & Onboarding Lead full-cycle recruiting across departments Partner with managers to improve hiring quality and speed Oversee onboarding and new hire integration Ensure compliance with I-9, E-Verify, and background checks Employee Relations & Culture Advise managers on performance and employee relations Conduct investigations and ensure consistency in policy application Support engagement, retention, and recognition programs Compensation & Benefits Support salary planning, merit increases, and promotions Administer bonus and incentive programs Manage benefits (medical, 401(k), leave programs) Partner with brokers/vendors to improve offerings and manage costs Performance & Development Lead performance review processes and goal setting (MBO/SMART) Coach managers on performance and development Support training programs and LMS initiatives Strategic HR Partner with leadership on workforce planning Help scale HR systems, processes, and infrastructure Provide insights through HR metrics and reporting Qualifications Required 5-10+ years of progressive HR experience Strong knowledge of California employment law Experience in employee relations, compliance, and HR operations Experience supporting recruiting and performance management Strong communication and problem-solving skills Preferred Manufacturing or consumer products experience Multi-state or international HR exposure HR certification (SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, SPHR) What Success Looks Like HR runs smoothly and compliantly across all locations Managers are confident and effective Hiring is efficient and brings in strong talent Employees are engaged and retained HR systems scale with company growth

$100,000 - $130,000
