About the Job The Human Resources Manager leads core HR functions including onboarding, benefits administration, employee relations, performance management, HR policy and compliance, and supports payroll activities. This hands-on role owns the annual open enrollment process, administers the company wellness program, and supports annual audits including benefits, 401(k), and workers' compensation. Responsibilities Serve as the subject matter expert for all employee benefits, including medical, dental, vision, life, disability, retirement, voluntary benefits, and wellness programs Manage the annual open enrollment process from end to end, including vendor coordination, plan review, cost analysis, employee communications, presentations, HRIS updates and testing, and EDI file accuracy Administer day-to-day benefits activities, including new hire enrollments, qualifying life events, COBRA, and leave programs such as FMLA, ADA, and leaves of absence Reconcile monthly benefit invoices in a timely manner and resolve discrepancies Guide employees on benefit options and serve as a liaison for insurance claim issues Lead wellness initiatives by administering and promoting the company's wellness program, tracking participation, measuring outcomes, and recommending improvements Manage wellness communications and coordinate on-site and virtual visits with wellness partners Serve as a trusted resource to employees and managers on workplace concerns, conflict resolution, and policy interpretation Conduct investigations as needed and recommend appropriate action Mediate and resolve workplace conflicts Support initiatives that strengthen employee engagement, morale, and retention Update, communicate, and enforce HR policies and procedures to ensure compliance with state and federal requirements Use HR metrics and reporting tools to evaluate the effectiveness of HR programs and initiatives Collect and analyze HR data to identify trends and opportunities for improvement Administer the performance review process, including mid-year check-ins, annual evaluations, and development planning Partner with managers to support effective feedback, documentation, and performance improvement practices Obtain appropriate approvals for pay-related changes, including new hires, promotions, corrections, and cost-of-living increases Assist the Payroll Specialist with pay-related activities to support timely and accurate weekly and bi-weekly payroll processing Communicate pay and benefit changes to the Payroll Specialist to ensure accurate processing Conduct salary benchmarking and market analysis to support competitive pay structures Conduct regular audits to ensure HR practices comply with legal requirements, including annual EEO and ACA reporting Perform company audits, including benefits, workers' compensation, and 401(k) Oversee HRIS data accuracy, reporting, and process improvements Manage employee files, documentation, and records retention in electronic filing systems Support new hire activities by coordinating pre-employment steps, orientation, and first-day schedules with HR and safety teams Conduct employee surveys and use feedback to improve the work environment Manage monthly HR newsletter content for employee distribution Promote a positive organizational culture aligned with the company's values and mission Requirements Bachelor's degree in human resources, finance, business, or a related field required Five or more years of progressive HR experience, including direct responsibility for benefits administration SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, or PHR certification preferred Advanced computer skills with experience in HRIS and payroll systems Strong knowledge of employment laws, benefits regulations, and HR best practices Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and professionalism Experience with company-sponsored wellness programs is a plus Excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills Must comply with all applicable state and federal laws and guidelines Perform other duties as assigned Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen and background investigation
